From everything I had read before going to Iceland, the early morning tours provided better chances of seeing a larger number of the birds. However, the time of season is also a factor. I was there at the beginning of the breeding season, and while I didn't see babies, there were numerous birds on the island. It's my understanding that if you are going towards the tail end of the season you won't see very many as they are preparing to spend the winter out on the water.

I can assure you that the whale research scientists that accompanied us were as excited, loving and respectful to the whales as I could ever hope for.

Hey Hetal! This September as well as October we still had excellent sightings spotting all of the four main species the Humpback Whale, Minke Whales, White Beaked Dolphins and Harbour Porpoises in Faxaflói Bay. The Puffin however usually starts migrating in the end of August. We can of course never guarantee anything in regards with the wildlife sightings but in the past years the sighings have been good throughout our season from the 15th of April to the 31st of October.

Hi Jessica_Karen Thanks for the interest in our tours and I hope the following will cover your questions! If you're visiting in the end of April I'm afraid it's highly unlikely that we'll see puffins during the tours as they're usually only around from approx. the 15th of May to the 20th of August as they only stay on land or close to land in Iceland during their breeding season. We don't recommend the tours for anyone with for example back and knee problems and how rough the tour feels varies depending on the sea conditions, so it mainly just depends of the physical shape of the individual and if they'd be comfortable in sitting in our jockey like seats. The boats are smaller, closer to the weather as well as being open so they are more exposed to all sorts of weather and conditions out in the bay, therefore we never run tours in extreme conditions and cancel tours if sea conditions are rough. We do our best to inform our guests regarding the weather conditions especially if we think the sea might feel rough and if the tour is cancelled you're of course entitled to a full refund for your cancelled tour. If the sea conditions are on the rougher side and we're still able to proceed with the tour we often give people the option to reschedule or cancel if they don't feel comfortable with participating. But as I mentioned earlier the tour is not recommended for those with back or knee injuries and if the conditions are not favourable we cancel the tours. In the end of April you might see Minke Whales, White Beaked Dolphins, Humpbacks and/or Harbour Porpoises along with a variety of sea birds. All the best, Halla Whale Safari

Dear Colleen None of our RIB's have been tipped over by whales. The boats are very stable out on the water and the same kind of boats are for example used in sea rescues in Iceland in bad weather conditions. Best regards, Halla

Hey Richard, I will tell you that spotting a Blue whale off the coast of Reykjavik is very rare. We do get Orcas occasionally but again this is still considered rare although less rare then a Blue whale spotting. Blur whales can be seen on occasion in the North of Iceland. The most common species seen out of Reykjavik are Minkes, Humpbacks, White beaked dolphins and Harbour porpoises and of course the charismatic Atlantic puffins. All the best, Kimberly
