Zeer mooie barokke hoofdingang van een zeer mooi historisch stadje.

Portal de acesso à cidade de Mdina. Fica após uma ponte que passa carros (fique atento a isso). É bem bonito, mas é difícil tirar fotos limpas, pois sempre tem bastante pessoas por ali.

Es una puerta muy bonita y todo un símbolo de Mdina y, en general, de Malta. Cruzando el puente de piedra da acceso al casco histórico de la ciudad. Se hizo famosa también después de salir en una de las temporadas de Juego de Tronos como parte de Desembarco del Rey.

The gate is the entrance to the old medieval fortress and is an attractive feature in the sturdy city walls and leads into an array of narrow cobbled streets forming the old city.

The Main gate to the city of Mdina - one of the most iconic landmarks of the city, was built in 1724-25 by the orders of Grand Master Antonio Manuel de Vilhena.
Vilhena - was the one who ordered the restauration of the city of Mdina, including its fortifications and as such since in the vicinity of the gate the Vilhena palace was built - the old gate was walled up - due the building of the palace and a new gate the one that can be seen today was built in baroque style.
As mentioned - it is one of the cities landmarks - made "appearances" in several movies ... so it is one of the points where the visitors always stop for a few pics, and so did I.

The city, especially in the gate ways, was heaving! Whilst I know we were very much part of that ‘problem’ it is still worth mentioning.
This gate is a fascinating piece of architecture and one of the ways in/out. Definitely photograph worthy!
