We visited mainly for the history related exhibits which are arranged below ground level. The deeper you go, the further back in history the exhibits take you. This is a very impressive building particularly because it is hewn out of the rock face. Highlight of the extensive Roman section is a well preserved mosaic floor featuring the muses believed to date from about 240 AD. On the lowest floors, bronze age dwellings take you back to 12,000 years BC. There is so much to see here it is possible to spend upwards of half a day. Everything is very well curated and presented. History exhibition is free, there are other art related areas where a ticket is required.

Ένα πολύ όμορφο μουσείο με ελεύθερη είσοδο τις Πέμπτες για την μόνιμη έκθεση. Πολύ καλά δομημένο και με πολύ ενδιαφέροντα εκθέματα, με το ρωμαϊκό μωσαϊκό να κλέβει την παράσταση.
Το μόνο μείον είναι ότι όλα τα κείμενα ήταν στα γαλλικά. Υπήρχαν booklets με τα κείμενα και στα αγγλικά αλλά δεν ήταν ιδιαίτερα βολικό. Σε κάθε περίπτωση είναι μια επίσκεψη που αξίζει.
Το μόνο μείον είναι ότι όλα τα κείμενα ήταν στα γαλλικά. Υπήρχαν booklets με τα κείμενα και στα αγγλικά αλλά δεν ήταν ιδιαίτερα βολικό. Σε κάθε περίπτωση είναι μια επίσκεψη που αξίζει.

Another freebee thing to do in Luxembourg City. Absolutely incredible building built into the rock of the city. 7/8 floors split across 2 buildings. Interesting mixture of national museum stuff, art and furniture. We really enjoyed it. Well worth a look

Ce musée retrace l'histoire de l'Homme, de la préhistoire au moyen-âge grâce aux traces archéologiques retrouvées sur le territoire Luxembourgeois. Très instructif et interractif.

There is alot in the museum and it is free apart from the exhibitions. It was hard to navigate around and the lift had a mind of its own. Lots to see you will need at least 4 hrs. Unfortunately the cafe was not open so we went across the road and got a lovely coffee for on 1:50Euros

Неожиданно большая экспозиция. Минус 5 этажей и плюс 4! Снаружи выглядит более чем скромно. Богатая коллекция Томского периода. Бесплатный вход.

A free museum with paid for add on exhibitions. Some interesting art. Well worth an hour - or more with the exhibitions.

Everything is in French! If you read the language, it will help. There are english translation books on some floors but not all. It was a free entry. I recommend this visit.

It was fun to see all the history elements of the surrounding area. However everything was only in French. There is an audiotour available (for a small fee) and there are translation books on every level. We walked around and just looked at the objects.
With the Luxembourg card we were able to visit the other exhibitions which were very pretty and interesting.
