Great walk along the promenade today all the way up the harbour. Nice selection of cafes and restaurants, not too overpopulated with them which makes the walk hassle free.
Shame about the bits of litter strewn on the rocks but that didn't detract from the pleasant walk.
Artwork/sculptures add focus points along the way but the Mediterranean as the backdrop and the cooling breeze it offers is the main draw.
If you are Limassol and want to while away an hour or two then you could do a lot worse than take a stroll along the Prom!

Το περπάτημα στην παραλιακή της Λεμεσού είναι ό,τι πρέπει κατά την διάρκεια της επίσκεψής σας στην πόλη! Οι ψηλοί φοίνικες και η θάλασσα από δίπλα σας, καθώς και η ξύλινη προβλήτα που σας επιτρέπει το τέλειο και ταυτόχρονα το πιο ιδανικό μέρος για να βγάλετε φωτογραφίες με φόντο την πόλη, αποτελούν το καλύτερο μέρος για περπάτημα, είτε μόνοι, είτε με οικογένεια! Μια μικρή συμβουλή, μην περπατήσετε μεσημέρι, καλύτερα το απόγευμα ή το πρωί!

This is a well done promenade that takes you by a couple of beaches, a number of cafes, with wonderful vistas. Thoroughly enjoyed strolling down this walkway and inhaling the breezes. One of the cleanest places we’ve been to in the Mediterranean.

Die Promenade ist mit viel Verstand und Geld angelegt worden, sie ist großzügig, integriert öffentliche Strände (mit bemerkenswert sauberen Toiletten und Umkleideräumen) und verziert sich mit allerlei Kunstwerken, deren Akzeptanz durch das Publikum (nimmt man die Verschmierungen zum Maßstab) nicht immer gegeben sein dürfte.
Der Bereich lädt zum Bummeln ein und ist gastronomisch einfach bestückt.

Is it advisable to hire a car and drive around and visit paphos nd Nicosia or should we just take the organised trips ?

Organised trips takes you to and from the hotspots and you dont have to worry about parking.. although the buses can be a bit old and uncomfortable. You can hire a car but a lot of the backstreets are confusing and not very well sign posted.

Yes, you will see a lot of tourists doing so. The locals find this to be a bit silly but it is not illegal as far as I know.
