Netter natürlicher Hafen. Leider völlig überlaufen und ein touristennepp Restaurant / Laden neben dem anderen. Fahrt besser woanders hin.

But chaotic in last week but first two were lovely

The harbour is currently under redevelopment with all the shop and cafe signs being removed. The cafe owner informed us that the mayor wanted all the business to look uniform, we hope they do not spoil the place as they removed the sun awnings from the cafe fronts so there was little sun protection.
They are also in the process of building a multi storey block of flats which is over twice the hight of all the hotels so there must have been a change in building regulations so I hope the place does not start to look like Benedorm

Paphos harbour partly closed off

Beware if you’re going to Paphos for a holiday. Much of the harbour area has been closed-off for some building works - apparently to the annoyance of local shops and café’s. We walk into town daily and every day they’ve closed off a bit more of the harbour. We walked into town today and we had to by pass completely a large section of the sea front that consisted of restaurants and shops. You’re still able to go on boat trips from the harbour but it’s a detour around the back road to get to where they depart.

on my first day people asked for the old town, i say it's just the town, they asked about the market, when it's actually lots of little boutique shops

Charming venue to walk, talk and enemy the view.

We were fortunate in staying at a hotel within a pleasant walking distance along the coast from Paphos harbour. Thoroughly charming, with plenty of bars, restaurants and shops to engage the tourists to this lovely part of the island of Cyprus. There is a major renovation taking place of a large bar and restaurant nearest the harbour, but it looks as if it is being completed in a way that is sympathetic to the original historical architecture - unlike up the hill at the Old town, Paphos.

Nice walk, not much boat activity and a bit dilapidated

Wednesday 5th October and we walked around Paphos Harbour.

The top of the harbour is lined with restaurants, they have people along the street attempting to lure visitors into their restaurant to eat and drink. We found some of it to be humorous banter others were a bit more aggressive.

There are some interesting features in the harbour, Paphos Castle, Old Fort Ruins, buildings and Sol Alter sculpture. There are views across the Bay, the Promenade and out to sea.

There were a number of modern built structures, including a restaurant and the Port Authority Building but they all appeared to be boarded up and abandoned. This gave the harbour area a bid of a depressed and rundown appearance. There were a number of buildings that looked some sort of shelters that people could wait in while waiting for the departure of their boat trips. These also looked unused. The public toilets, a bit smelly were open along the harbour wall.

The harbour was used mainly by small fishing boats and the Coast Guard vessels. The were a small number of private holiday yachts anchored up in the harbour.

There were a variety of boat trips available from here including the Pirate Ship, Zorky Submarine.

At the time of our visit there was not a great deal of boat activity going on but still worth a walk along.

Eyesore on the horizon

Paphos is a lovely seaside town with lots to see and do. The thing which spoils Paphos is the hideous new multi storey hotel which totally dominates the skyline and appears from many angles to grow out of the beautiful old castle or one of many low level hotels. I can't believe planning authorities have allowed such an eyesore. It's the first step towards turning Paphos into a Benidorm style mess.

Will be great in the summer

Although we were there over Christmas and expecting it to be a bit quiet all the pubs and resturants were open and eager for business.
The glass bottom boat was superb with great info from the crew about the wrecks and the sea life.

Nice for a walk

We went there for a walk after dark all along nice promenade and rounding the harbour to the same end. Some interesting boats and yachts.

Big changes

The seafront road is now closed to traffic since 15 December 2022. All the steel posts to prevent parking have been removed & also the circular glass covered lights adjacent to the sea have gone [never known them to work anyway]
Now very pleasant to wander about without the worry of traffic, inc. buses.
