we parked our car at the entrance of the gorge on Avakas Gorge Road at the top of the hill. If you have a four wheel drive you can get down the bumpy road but if its a rental I would avoid this. We didnt know it was linked to Coral Bay. Our access was via white river beach.

it would be difficult to get a public transport as too far to walk from the main road where buses travel. a taxi may also be difficult as you would need the taxi to go off road for a while then there arranging pick up . we hired a car for just 3 days to visit places like this and used public transport for the rest of our 3 week stay. we found car hire was quite cheap and they drop car off at your address. We booked the car hire locally. you are not covered for going off road in car hire (cost min 800 Euros if you need recovery) .but you can travel safely a little off road and park near enough to walk to the Gorge . We booked a jeep Safari but they made excuses not to walk up into the Gorge so we booked hire car and went back a few days later if its the Gorge you want to walk best book car hire.

I think it would be but best if any children have waterproof shoes/ sandals then they can walk up in the stream making the walk much easier and avoid the climbing on the steeper banks. We saw lots of families when we went with young children basically you just walk as far as you feel comfortable into the gorge most children seemed to find it a great and adventure. We had waterproof sandals and found it any easy walk both of us over 60

Absolutely do not go on a tour. You will not get enough time to walk right through and the section that you do do will be crowded!

Hallo! Es gibt zwei Parkplätze daneben. Das näherste bei Avakas kann nur mit SUV oder ähnlichem Wagen erreicht werden. Mit einem kleineren Wagen ist die Avakas Road nicht befahrbar. In diesem Fall kann das Auto auf einem kleinem Parkplatz (einfach eine offene Grundfläche) am Anfang der Avakas Straße gelassen werden. Daraus muss man weiter nur zu Fuss etwa 1 km bis Gorge gehen.

Apologies for the late reply but I caught the bus and then walked a distance. I noticed cars parked up close to the gorge and they weren't 4 by 4s.
