A lovely 4 km walk from the center of Hallstatt to the waterfall. The terrain is not very hard, only the last stretch is a bit steeper, but totally manageable.

We didnt hike to the waterfall but could see it in the mountains from the town centre.
As there was recent rain the waterfall had a good amount of water in it and its a very soothing sound to hear that roar of the water.
This mass of water plunges over the edge of a 90m high gorge.

hier spazieren zu gehen ist ein Traum, egal wieviel in Hallstatt los ist, hier ist es immer ruhig, kühl und gemütlich. Leider stört der Mist, den die Leute achtlos wegwerfen manchmal die Schönheit der Natur.

It was a pretty easy hike up the paved path which took approx. 15 mins. Not much water during winter though but nice views over the late and town.

Der Wasserfall ist am besten von Parkplatz im Zufahrtstunnel aus zu sehen. Entweder hoch laufen, oder auf den Parkplatz im Ausfahrtstunnel fahren und eine Treppe hoch gehen. Es lohnt!

Petite randonnée en boucle très accessible à partir de Hallstatt (départ près de la station service). Le sentier serpente en pente douce dans une forêt magnifique le long du torrent et entre les masses impressionnantes des montagnes en surplomb. L’accès final aux chutes se fait avec une pente raide sur les 200 derniers mètres. Le spectacle est vraiment superbe. La descente du retour peut se faire sur un chemin différent, en traversent un alpage où paissent des vaches (avec cloche :))... compter trois heures en s’arrêtant. Le dénivelé total est de de 230 m. Côté fréquentation, pas de problème, en plein week-end du 15 août nous avons croisé 20 ou 30 personnes sur le sentier. Un regret, nous pensions pouvoir trouver des retenues d’eau accessibles pour se rafraîchir mais le torrent ne s’y prête pas.

Nice hike away from Hallstatt's tourist crowds. Easy except the last, steep, section. Multiple waterfalls, more spectacular than photos would show.

We were not expecting a waterfall but you can see it in various places in town on a short walk. The town of Hallstatt is beautiful and became famous for its salt production. It has an underground salt lake as well.
You'll enjoy Hallstatt. We took a Viator tour that included Hallstatt, Melk and Salzburg. Hallstatt was probably the most beautiful.

Hi yes! There is a route near the main bus station, and you can get directions easily from the information centre. In the evening, depending on the season, there's actually nothing too much to do. Just a couple of restaurants in the city centre but nice place to chill. There is some wildlife and lots of places to hike!
The hotel staff will be able to share with you the direction n where to hike. That's where I got the information from.
