Konventionelles Denkmal für Kaiser Franz. I Stephan von Lothringen. Mich hat es nun nicht sonderlich vom Hocker gehauen. Aber da sich der Burggarten insgesamt lohnt, kann man das Denkmal gut mitnehmen.

An interesting equestrian statue of Holy Roman Emperor Francis I, husband of Maria Theresa in Burggarten, just behind Neue Burg. It is interesting that this statue is remarkably smaller than other monuments within the area.
Despite the size, due to a large number of statues all over the place, an inscription on the pedestal describing who the statue was commemorating was much appreciated.

An equestrian monument commemorating Franz I – husband of Empress Maria Theresia. The monument stands opposite a huge Ginko tree, in Burggarten Park.
On the stone base you can find the inscription below (Translated):
"For the immortalized Franz L, Emperor of the Romans,
statue Franz 1, Emperor of Austria,
honoring the memory of the best, greatest grandfather,
wished this site
that he would always be in the
presence of his, 1819 (MDCCC.XIX.)"
Balthasar Moll has signed the work twice, apparently with a stamp. On the left side of the Emperor's cape, on the saddle cloth on the right. (left and right side).

Dovrebbe essere la statua più antica di Vienna, portata qui circa un secolo dopo essere stata realizzata e ritraente il primo kaiser di nome Francesco. Non è un granché specie se paragonata ad altre ma nel chiasso di questi giardini mantiene comunque una sua dignità e rappresenta l'unico monumento equestre del parco. Datele un'occhiata e ditemi se non è vero. Intanto cliccate su "Grazie, roberto4u68" e guardate tutte le recensioni su Vienna che ho fatto

マリア・テレジアの旦那さんのフランツ・シュテファンの騎馬像で、ブルグ公園にあります。美術史博物館の前にあるマリア・テレジアの像に比べると地味ですが、それでも、なかなか立派な銅像です。

Das Denkmal für Kaiser Franz I. Stephan von Lothringen steht am nördlichen Ende des Burggartens zwischen der Wiener Staatsoper und der Neuen Burg in unmittelbarer Nähe zum Mozartdenkmal. Vom Maria-Theresien-Platz aus ist man zu Fuss in weniger als zwei Minuten hier.
Das Werk wurde im Jahre 1780 von dem Künstler Balthasar Ferdinand Moll gestaltet. Es zeigt den Kaiser auf seinem Pferd sitzend.
Fazit: Ein eher dezentes Reiterstandbild und nicht ansatzweise mit den monumentalen Werken auf dem Heldenplatz vergleich. Klassisch in Design und Ausführung wird es uns nicht länger im Gedächtnis bleiben.

One of the monuments you will find at Burggarten is the equestrian statue of Kaiser Franz I. Stephen von Lothringen. Kaiser Franz I Stephen who was the Grand Duke of Tuscany, Holy Roman Emperor and most married to Empress Maria Theresa during the 18th century.
This statue was created by Austrian sculptor Balhasar Ferdinand Moll in 1780 and brought to Burggarten in 1819. It is the oldest equestrian statue in Vienna.
Here you find a bronze life-size figure of Kaiser Franz I. Stephen on horseback. He is wearing period attire, looking forward. The statue stands upon a small rectangular base which includes inscription.
This is one of a handful of interesting monuments at Burggarten. I enjoyed seeing it recently with a bit of snow on the ground and blue skies, which made for decent photographs.
