Unique experience to hear Mozart requiem on period instruments in amazing setting

I have listened to many recordings of Mozart's Requiem, but this performance of a small group of musicians (12 strings; 8 winds/brass; 1 timpani; 13 singers + 4 soloist singers + conductor) revealed to me new aspects of how well the different voices of the orchestra and choir/soloists are integrated and support each other. Less is really more. Here, location is everything, and Karlskirche and its acoustics was a key part of the performance. The acoustics at many times made me look up toward the dome, especially at the end of movements. Mozart's orchestration as to when he used the timpani or not, seeing up-close how the singers and instrumentalists support each other or counterbalance each other was inspiring. Period instruments were appreciated - especially cellists playing without endpin, period trombone, horn, etc. This performance made me fall in love again with the Requiem but in a completely different way. It felt like going back in time and getting a glimpse as to how this piece was performed in the day. Thank you for such an amazing experience!

зимой концертов нет, но само здание привлекает всегда, и в любое время года! от него пешочком дошли до Дуная и обратно - отличная прогулка по старой Вене.

Sinceramente, quase dormi. O canto é numa língua na qual se entende o que estão dizendo mesmo eu tendo pago 2 euros por um folheto com as letras em inglês. Não se pode fotografar o show. Paguei o preço do local intermediário, tendo ficado umas quinze fileiras atrás. Lá o pessoal é grande e eu com 1,75 m via com muita dificuldade por conta dos homens que estavam sentados na frente.

Der absolute Gänsehaut-Abend

Dear Alex S, Thank you for your review. The piece is originally written in latin maybe thats why it was hard to follow if you look at the translated text. Of course it is hard to see something when you are behind a tall person, this can happen all over the world. Since the concert take place in a church we cannot change the layout of the seats. Premessa: non siamo degli intenditori di musica, quindi non posso fare commenti tecnici o sull'acustica. Posso solo dire che ascoltare il Requiem di Mozart nella chiesa di Karlskirche è stato molto suggestivo! Abbiamo acquistato online i posti da 12 euro in piedi ed è stata la scelta corretta: i posti non sono infatti posizionati in fondo alla chiesa, ma in prossimità del transetto con una buona visibilità e acustica. Inoltre arrivando presto ci si riesce anche a sedere sulle balaustre, quindi perfetto!

Tolles Konzert!!

Das Orchester, die Location und seine Atmosphäre top. Aufgrund unterschiedlicher Bewertungen der Akkustik empfehle ich einen Platz in Kategorie 1 mit Platzkarten oder der vordere Bereich der Kategorie 2. Dort ist die Akkustik gut. Mein Fazit: absolut lohnenswert und preislich angemessen.
