We went to Oslo during the summer, so it was super nice to walk around the city! This is a nice place to visit and stay outside.

Questa è una delle zone più importanti di Oslo, qui è possibile ammirare uno splendido panorama sul porto, e trovare diversi edifici tra i più importanti della città, come il Municipio (dove vengono consegnati i premi Nobel), il museo Nazionale (dove è possibile ammirare" L'Urlo" di Munch), ma soprattutto da qui partono tantissimi battelli, per le escursioni nel fiordo di Oslo, e per raggiungere la penisola di Bygdoy. Lungo la passeggiata pedonale ci sono tantissimi ristoranti e locali di ogni genere, questa zona è assolutamente da non perdere.

Aker brygge är ett nytt område som sträcker sig ut mot Oslofjorden från centrum med stadshuset. Här finns nybyggda hus mef bostäder, restauranger och glassbarer. Längst ut kan man till och med bada. En trevlig promenad helt enkelt med fint perspektiv på andra sidan med Akershus fästning.

A mix of St Katherine’s dock in London and the Albert Dock in Liverpool but with more class. Atmospheric, attractive and interesting. If in Oslo you must visit here.

C'est un quartier tout neuf, agréable pour se promener. C'est joli comme cadre. Des restaurants tout au long. La gare maritime pour se rendre dans les différentes îles, est juste à côté.

Nice boardwalk in Oslo city center - A good mix of restaurants and cafes. A lot of commuter boats dock at Aker Brygge which is a nice lively background when you dine.

This is were all the commuter ferries depart and it is also the place that has received an magnificent facelift during the last 20 years with new modern housing/apartments and restaurants and bars. enjoyed it immensely.

I plan to visit in Feb. is it good to go there for a walk? most of the shops are closed during winter?

I just visited in January. The shops are open all year round , but they do close relatively early during this time of year. The sun is setting around 4:30 p.m. right now. All the restaurants in the area were open. Many even had outdoor seating even in January. They have heaters. It's a wonderful place to visit.

Akke Brigge is the area. So yes it's open on weekends :) You should be able to access the area around the sea (pier, boats, little dammed off water area). The shops definitely on Saturday. It will be busy with the hustle bustle of city life. Restaurants and bars might have different timings on a Sunday. The castle museum should be open on Saturdays.

I agree with NikonGlass. It's an easy walk or you can take the tram. Buy tickets for the tram from the kiosk at the station.

we arrive late at night on Saturday March 1 and will be coming in by train. Is the hotel walking distance or do we need to get a taxi?
