The Cavendish Hotel is easy to find, right on the sea front.We parked on a meter outside,paid for by a voucher from the hotel which cost us £1 for the day. The girls in the Spa couldn't have been more helpful, bringing us endless jugs of iced water & supplying us with extra towels & robes on request.. We had a super massage& sauna,& enjoyed relaxing in the aromatherapy room. Afternoon tea was fabulous & the waiting staff efficient & friendly. The black guy[waiter] who greeted us by name when we walked in & sang an operatic version of Happy Birthday to a group of ladies at a nearby table, is worth a special mention! This Spa day was on a Groupon deal & intended as a treat for myself & two daughters. We were a bit worried beforehand as previous reviews were not good. Maybe the term Spa is a bit misleading as there is no pool, steam room or Jacuzzi, but it does state this clearly if you bother to read up about the facilities beforehand. In spite of these limitations however, we had a wonderfully relaxing day & had no problem filling the time doing nothing much. We would definitely go again on this deal, but only if afternoon tea is included.

We were staying in the hotel and had booked a 45 minute hot stone massage each for the same time, this was booked a month before our stay. Upon arrival for our massages we were told no record of our booking, was I sure I had the right day, was it done through a spa break website offer? No was the answer to all of these and proceeded to show my direct booking confirmation from the spa. Apparently it has changed management and has been issues with computer systems. Said could not do a 45 minute treatment at all and only a shorter one at different times for each of us or the massages at 9.30 the following morning! Well, given we had a restaurant booking that evening and a 2 hour drive back with breakfast finishing in the hotel at 10.00 the next morning, neither was suitable or accepted. We were not the only ones to experience such problems. The evening spaces offered were free due to mistakes with other guests pre booked treatments and we met another set of friends who also had their treatments not booked in. There is no information on the website advising customers of changes or that perhaps they should call the hotel/spa to check all is ok with their planned treatments and this just isn't acceptable. We had booked the hotel as wanted to enjoy a spa break and I would advise anyone travelling with pre booked treatments to check they have you in their system!

Barely any facilities, a shower and a sauna are not what I would consider to be a spa. The aromatherapy room was a hot seat that burnt your bum with disco lights on the ceiling, didn't get it. We had to spend an hour waiting around with nothing to do before our treatments. Our treatments where started 10 mins late and the girls who did them seemed like they could barely be bothered. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Never been to such a terrible spa. So disappointed!!

I had booked treatments in advance and used the sanctuary for about an hour before my appointments. This was very relaxing and a good idea, as it ensured I would be able to relax properly even laying on my back at the bench during treatment. Christina, who preformed the facial and massage was such a darling and did everything very well. Except that she forgot a (to me; important) part of the treatment. She noticed afterwards, so at least I didn't pay for that part. I recommend a visit to Pebbles :-)

We arrived a little late for the spa day due to parking issues and was told off by the lady at reception who then cut our treatment time down because of it. The massage wasn't great. The lady didn't seem to know what she was doing it was very poor and not relaxing. I usually love having my nails done but we all thought we were rushed and it may just have been the lady we had not the hotel but she was not very well trained. I have been on many spa days and I have never had one like this. She didn't do my cuticles properly or shape my nails well and after she painted them she handed me a stick with nail remover on it and said if I could get the access nail polish off myself as she was in a rush for the next client. I have never had such bad customer service before, I always love going to spa days but this was just awful. I could have painted my nails better than she did and I'm not trained. I wouldn’t be surprised if she didn't have any beauty qualifications she was that bad. I would very much recommend staying well away from this spa in the hotel, it is a waste of time and money.
