e footpaths make my own route up , come here alot enjoying listening to the wildlife ,but some negative here lots of rubbish especially in the water and around the waterfall , don't know why this isn't cleaned up bad for the wildlife ,graffiti on beaches, and cafe really needs updating ,needs a bit of a gd tidy up

Love Fairlands Park. A quick walk round to get your steps up or a longer amble around with a friend to catch up on life. Both work. And it's a lovely park to be in touch with nature.

Brilliant place to walk the dogs and take in some fresh air, fairlands has been my usual route for the last 30 years!

Fairlands park turns 50 this autumn and is looking good for its age! This large town park looks especially attractive in the autumn with lots of colour in the trees. Many trees were planted in the early days of the park. Others are from older hedgerows and farmland planting - how the land was used before becoming the town park.
The park sits in a valley with a series of three lakes. The lakes have a different characters with one for boating, while at the opposite end a lake focused on nature and birdlife. The lakes and natural vegetation attract quite a bit of wildlife including grebes, cormorants, Egyptian geese, as well as many woodland birds. The paths are surfaced so its ideal for buggies and all levels of mobility. There are no flower beds or gardens as such - apart from a small 'maze' near the car parks and some colourful dogwoods and willows with red and green stems. There is a cafe with indoor and outdoor seating and toilets by the middle lake.

This park is really good if you want to have a little stroll to get your mind off of things and is great for kids to play and have fun. The staff aren't ever really there the same for the boating and water activities. I definitely expected more from the splash park so that it could be more suitable for older children as well; aside from this the play area was great, suitable for ALL ages. The park is perfect for a dog walk and a place to go in the summer (when its actually hot)

Only good place in my home town Stevenage left it’s a place where you can unwind after a bad day to relax spell the fresh air listen to the ducks sometime when they are visiting and chill out on fairyland valley… so I do recommend this place in my home town north of the town …

Early May is a lovely time to visit Fairlands Park. The Cherry trees are covered in blossom and have withstood all of the strange weather this spring has thrown at them. The park is popular at the weekends but does not feel too busy. The warm weather also made it a good day to see other new arrivals for spring, some young goslings and plenty of butterflies flitting about in the sunshine.

Er zijn geen activiteiten in de toiletten en ze zijn 's nachts afgesloten. We hadden meer plezier verwacht in Britse "dogging" -parken.

This town park is the largest green space in Stevenage. It sits in a natural valley in former farmland and was turned into a park in the early 1970s. Many trees were planted and the lakes created in the dry valley. More trees were planted around the Millennium and the lakes repaired.
The park has three large lakes - the northernmost is called the environmental lake has natural planting and shrubs around it. This the best place to see wildlife, in particular birds. The middle lake - called the Millennium or boating lake has a play area and water park adjacent. This lake is used for model boats and feeding water birds. The largest lake is the southern most. In more normal times this is used for a range of water sports.
In the winter, the shrubs including willows and dogwoods bring some colour. There is a small herb garden/ maze near the car park on Fairlands way. Apart from that there is not a lot of ornamental planting or 'gardens'. The three lakes do take up a lot of the space. The park is popular with families and dog walkers. It is of some interest for bird watching and the large lakes attract common and sometimes more unusual water birds. In this winter weather, farmland birds can also be seen including mistlethrush, goldfinches, long tailed tits, siskin and redwings. If you are lucky you might see kingfisher.
In terms of amenities, there is a cafe on the eastern side of the largest lake. This is not currently open, even for take away. The toilets are however open daily and staffed to make sure they don't become crowded and people observe distancing. The park is overall well maintained with very little litter or signs of wear. There is a certain amount of road noise from both Six Hills Way and Fairlands Way. It is a pleasant spot to visit but you are left feeling more could be made from it.

Can dogs be taken off of their leads in the park?
Is the park restricting visitors following Covid lock down? And are there toilets currently open?? Looking for somewhere midway between us and friends to meet for a picnic.

Parking is ok cafe selling I think through a hatch but I don't think toilets are open.

There is free parking opposite the football ground, located on Fairlands Valley Show Ground at Broadhall Way. This is suited to all parking including motorcycles.

Hi can you tell me where this located been to stevenage on 3 occasions been to a park over by park place somewhere behind a museum but don't know the name of the park can you explain to me where this fairlands park is located ,would be visiting in October 2019. thank you.
