I travel regularly on the train using Darlington station at least once a month. Always clean with plenty of refreshments available. Free charging in a warm room while waiting for the train. Friendly staff always ready to help direct you to the right platform.

Lovely old station with frequent services to the rest of the country. Served by LNER, cross country and others. Reasonable number of benches and a good selection of food places. Information telling the history of the area.

Railway staff and cafe staff were extremely friendly. Both clean and colourful premises. Our train was on time too. Always a bonus :)

The railway station in Darlington is easy to get to from many different parts of the country.
Local services run from Bishop Auckland to Saltburn every hour via Middlesbrough. There are also services by LNER from London to Newcastle, Edinburgh and Aberdeen. Trans-Pennine Express trains run from Newcastle to Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool. There are also regular services by Cross Country Trains from Scotland and Newcastle to Birmingham, Bristol and the South West.
There is WH Smith to get something to read and Pumpkin if you want to get a snack.
The staff were all friendly and helpful.

Unfortunately the cafe here has closed down and there didn't appear to be anywhere indoors to wait for our train however the extra time to look around gave me an opportunity to spot the Mouseman bench which is a memorial bench on the Northbound platform.

Visited Darlington train station to catch a train to York on August 6th.
Very impressed with keeping the public safe during the Covid pandemic.
The station is utilising a system of separate entry and exit points.
Staff on hand if any assistance is required.

I regular use this station as it is a good route to many places.
There is technically only two sides to catch a train so easy to navigate.
Plenty of parking £18 for 24hours
Costa, Smith's, Cash machine,
Staff available, ticket office and ticket machine.

There are barriers with staff so you would need their permission which I am sure they would not withold. If it very late the gates may well be left open.

There is limited long stay parking at the station but very expensive so never usedit, the long stay car park is accessed by Yarm Road entrance ( there are two entrances) there was unrestricted street parking within easy walking distance but not the best area and would expect restrictions now imposed but may be worth checking, I used to use Hargreave Terrace, there are parking bays outside the modern old peoples homes which had no restrictions last time I was there
