Mysterious Nepal was a fabulous mix of trekking, jungle safari and culture. The pick ups and guides were all excellent and seemless. Just right balance to make a perfect holiday in terms of activities and use of basic and luxury hotels and transport using buses. Our guide Logan in Kathmandu was very knowledgeable and our trekking guide Krishna for Poon Hill was fantastic.
Excellent value and highly recommended

I have just returned from the Classic Nepal trip and what a fabulous experience it was. From the very first stage of booking to our guide Gita, seeing us off at the airport all the team were wonderful, helpful and knowledgeable. Nothing was too much trouble. I had the privilege of being part of a fabulous group of people and had an amazing time. The guides for the individual trips were brilliant and our driver, Tilak was the best even though some of the roads were not, he got us to our destinations on time, safely with drove responsibly and carefully.
The hotels were all very good 3* and more than adequate for our needs and the staff were courteous and helpful. Our destinations were amazing, once in a life time experiences. What else can I say accept to thank Lumle for such a brilliant holiday at such excellent value.

Lumle travel come highly recommended with a great price for this trip. Great communication before you travel and also very helpful with queries when you are travelling. We will definitely look to travel with them again. First night at the Rama Inn. It’s a basic
hotel but we were well looked after. The food was great and very reasonable. Next night we ate at Sams One Tree Cafe. Great food and the table staff are deaf people. They do not advertise this so please go here and support this place. Many thanks to our guide Logan who was very friendly and knowledgeable on our tour around some of the temples and sites in Kathmandu. Now to the trek. Standby to be awestruck. The first day is up and more up. It’s fascinating passing through the small mountain villages. First night in a tea house in the winter is not to be forgotten. Sleep in a base layer and take a head torch. No heating in the room and low lighting. That said you have enough warm bedding. We also hired a sleeping bag in Pokhara. Our guide organised this. Most lodges have a log burner which everyone huddles around at night. Second day is onto Ghorephani which is a steady climb. When you get there the views of the Annapurna Range are stunning and well worth the sweat and tears. You have a further very steep climb to Poon Hill where we opted to watch the sunset and not wake at daft o clock for the sunrise-which was clouded anyway. The views from the tea house of the mountains are amazing. The snow was everywhere and hiring crampons was essential. Next day is a descent to Tadapani and a stay at the Lonely Planet Tea House. We loved its simplicity and great food. I will never forget eating breakfast and looking at the majestic mountains. Truly inspiring and what we hoped for on this trip. It’s then an easy descent to Ghandruk and a day at leisure in this large and interesting mountain community. A big thank you to our guide Yubraj for whom nothing was too much trouble. He really helped my wife Jackie on the more slippery and dangerous parts of the descents and was a great source of knowledge and a happy chappy throughout. Also many thanks to our porter Khagendra who carried my wife’s backpack. We called him “the bird” because I’m sure at times he flew the trail he was that fast and that far ahead. I carried my own kit- what do you expect of a former Royal Marine! All in all do not hesitate to book this trip with Lumle Travel. We will never forget it as it was an awesome adventure and we might just have to come back when the Rhododendron forests are in full bloom.

We arrived in Kathmandu for a few days rest before we headed to Pokhara. We met our guide Yubraj who was accompanying us for our 4 day trek. He checked we had the right walking kit before we started. He arranged hiring sleeping bags and crampons for us. We picked up Khagendra (the porter who carried my bags) on the way.
The trek was amazing. The scenery was to die for. I found it difficult at times but managed with the help of Yubraj. We had frequent stops and he supplied us with oranges. Nothing was too much trouble for him. His knowledge was brilliant. Would definitely recommend this trek. Would recommend you take snacks, mars bars etc... toilet paper a must. Lumle holidays have been brilliant replying to emails and answering any queries we had.
Thank you for a trip to remember 😊

We have just returned from 3 weeks in Nepal and India. We opted to trek to Poonhill. In Nepal. The guide Yubrej was extremely empathetic as a few of went down with bugs en route. The accommodation was basic and it was cold but we had gone prepared following dialogue with Lumle.
Everyone agreed how impressed they were with Lumle. For myself I had asked questions at weekends and at night and got answers on both.
There was one small hiccup on our travel from Chitwan as we arrived at the pre booked independent tour coach we were told there was no room but we simply got on another .
All in all a great experience and I would certainly recommend Lumle to others.

Thank you to Lumle and the local staff for an amazing holiday. This was our first organised guided holiday and I can recommend Lumle for their excellent service. Our holiday took place the first two weeks in November. Preholiday communication was quick, helpful and detailed. After arriving in Kathmandu late afternoon we were picked up and taken to our hotel. We found an excellent restaurant in the area (Tibetan restaurant Dechenling). The next morning we had some time to ourselves to explore the area around Asan. It’s a great example of Asian bazaar. This was followed by a guided tour with other 20 people around Kathmandu visiting Temples, a Monastery and Durbar Square. The local guide Yogita was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and good fun. The next day we travelled to Pokhara in a Lumle minibus. We had plenty of breaks and a good lunch. Once in Pokhara there was some time to explore the area around the lake before going out for dinner. The activities the next day included a visit to a waterfall, cave, temple on a little island on the lake and a visit to the Tibetan refugee settlement. Local food at the Pokhara restaurant ‘Thakali Kitchen’ was delicious. The real adventure started the following day by going on a 5 day Poon Hill Trek with the fantastic local guide Yubraj Adhikari and his friend/porter Khagendra (we were lucky as we were the only two people for this part of the trip). We passed many lovely villages seeing how people work and live. Highlights were the sunset at Poon Hill, the sunrise at Lonely Planet Hotel (in Ghandruk) overlooking Annapurna South and walking through the Rhododendron Forest. We even got to dress up in local traditional Gurung clothes. The tea houses we stayed at during our trekking days were basic but charming, we always had clean sheets, most have on suite bathrooms (or one to share with other guest), food is delicious, charging points for mobile phone and wifi is always available. Two tips: buy a LifeStraw in the UK as it filters water for drinking and it reduces plastic in Nepal and bring your own travel towel. Once back in Pokhara we had again some time to ourselves. Instead of taking the bus the next day to Chitwan, we opted to take a short flight. Once we arrived at the Hotel we had a few hours to relax (nice swimming pool at the hotel). This was following by a late afternoon guided sightseeing walk around the area and watching the sunset over the river (there was only one other couple joining us).
The following morning we started off with a canoe trip on the river Rapti (with crocodiles swimming along side) and a jungle walk with local guide Sandeep (I must point out his fantastic knowledge of fauna and flora!!!). After lunch we joined a 4-5 hour jeep safari with other people (there was one short break at the crocodile breading centre). It’s a busy long day but we got to see so much (Crocodiles, Rhino, Elephant, monkeys, birds, dear, ….). In the evening there was a performance of local dances.
The next day we took the tourist bus back to Kathmandu for more shopping in Thamel (a very touristy area but good for last minute shopping). I managed to find a nice, simple and very reasonably priced restaurant that is frequented by locals and not just tourists (Thakali Bhanchha has a very good Thali and Momo). On the last day (as our flight was not until late afternoon) we had time to ourselves and therefore visited the Narayanhity Palace which was less than 5 min walk from the hotel.
On a general note, all the transfers between airports, towns, hotels and other locations were perfectly timed and we always had a briefing of our agenda the day before. Staff at the hotels were friendly and extremely helpful.
I would like to point out that I am vegetarian and there has never been an issue getting a vegetation meal during our travels. Most of the time we enjoyed Thali and Momos, Masala tea and Gorkha beer.
It was definitely one of the best holiday I ever had and totally exceeded my expectations.

When you are ready for next adventure, please remember us. We would be more than happy to show you the rest of the world with our own personal touch!

This is our second holiday with Lumle, last year we went to Cambodia and Vietnam with them. Had such a good experience that we booked India with them. Did not disappoint, the service we got from the company was excellent helping us with anything at any time, always getting a quick response to any queries. The staff on the ground, drivers and guides were excellent. We were lucky enough to have Hemender with us for part of the trip, his knowledge of the sites we visited was extensive and we had a very enjoyable time with him.
Not sure where our next trip will take us but will definitely be looking at Lumle again

Last year my wife and I went on a 14 day trip of a life time to Nepal, Everest base camp. We were very fortunate to be lead by Boban, one of Lumles experienced trekking guides. He put us at ease from the very beginning and had so much knowledge to share throughout the trip. This was truely a great experience and I would recommend anyone to do it. Thanks Lumle and thanks Boban!

All transfer arrangements were hassle free and on time. All drivers and guides were efficient and friendly. There was always someone available to help with queries and advice. Dear Valued Traveller,
It depends on what part of the country you are visiting. If you are not on a trek and not going anywhere near the base camp, and just visiting the main cities (Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan) you can have just normal summer items of clothing along with some provisions for rainy days.
It can get a bit chilly in some of the places after it rains so cardigans and sweatshirts might not be a bad idea.
Please let us know if we can be of further help.
Many thanks,

Hi,
I am going on the Vietnam and Cambodia tour in March and just wanted to know whether it is worth arranging the Visa's beforehand or whether it is easy when arranging them on arrival?
Also is it suitable to use a suitcase or would a travel backpack be better (went to Borneo last year and the latter was the easier option!)
Thanks!
