Went to hay for the Thursday farmers market . I love hay from when I used to live nearby, Bu had not been there for years. Nice little market and can imagine it gets more stalls in the summer months. There were about 15 various dealers with a good mixture of commodities. Parking easy but it was winter and I seem to remember it’s a bit harder in summer. Lovely town .

A small but varied market from food to artists. Some good catering vans too. I bought a lovely Lino print and had I been staying in a self catering property would likely have purchased some food too. I’m glad it was on during my visit to Hay on Wye!

We were looking for things to do close by when I saw that there was a Thursday market on. We decided to drive over and take a look and it turned out to be one of my favourite days of the holiday. Lovely market stalls (try the local cheese!) and exploring the shops in the rest of the town was so fun. Ended with a nice pint and dinner.

We happened upon this market town by chance. Decided to have a little stop over and viewed the market, got some lovely hake from the fish seller and enjoyed just browsing round.

Small but historic setting in the centre of Hay, there is a vibrancy to the market which varies slightly as different traders come in with seasonal variations. My favourite is the fabulous cheese and dry goods stall which is always popular with locals and tourists (they sell seeds, nuts, dried fruit, eggs, flour, oats and hundreds of herbs and spices). Aswell as the regular Thursday markets there are smaller Saturday ones using the Buttermarket.

As the title says its a local market. Lots of different produce including rugs, flowers, Deli style foods and rustic breads. Alex Gooch bread first class, not cheap but excellent. Market day adds to the mystique and creative environment that is Haye and is certainly worth a look if in the area. No pressure from market traders either.

There's nothing worse trudging around a market and that the market owners and produce are not local. There were lots of local produce on offer with independent traders selling there wares without inflated prices.

The main carpark for Hay is on Oxford Road, HR3 5EQ, a 3 minute walk from the market square (which is normally the Memorial Square carpark but it's transformed into the market every Thursday!). Enjoy your visit to Hay :)
