We paid our first visit to the museum on their recent open day. Very impressed with all the work that the volunteers have done to create an excellent museum in the very best of historic surroundings. Everyone was very welcoming and knowledgeable and they had done fitting justice to the history of the Cheshire constabulary and the local police forces that preceded it. It was great seeing the inside of the magnificent building again and the use that has been made of it’s features, including the original cell area. A fitting tribute to all the past officers that have served the county and a great resource.

I support a young disabled man with sight loss, he has a keen interest in all things police related so I contacted the museum to see if we could visit. Volunteer Len set a date for us and arranged a special Saturday tour. We were met at the door by Anne, Diane and John who made the visit an incredible experience for us, the knowledge Anne and Diane had about Cheshire Police was fantastic. We loved hearing about Anne’s real life Police work and the many changes since she signed up. John took us into the Cells and Diane told us all about the Armed Officers exhibition. We felt privileged to sit with the team for a brew and biscuits, trying on the uniforms and helmets for photos! Ee were able to touch and feel many of the artefacts and the team had selected some especially due to sight loss, they also gave detailed descriptions so nothing was missed. We were able to get into a patrol car with blue lights and the whole experience was magical for us. I would highly recommended this for anyone with an interest in the police. I honestly believe the volunteers should win an award, they couldn’t have been any more accommodating, it meant to much to the person I was supporting, thank you all so much.

Wanted to bring my Dad here as my grandfather was a police officer and detective in Warrington, his home town.
We filled out the form and very quickly received a phone call. Although not normally open at the weekend, we were able to book in on a Saturday. The volunteers were all very friendly from the start and throughout.
Tour was absolutely fascinating with just about aspect of policing covered. As it happened, the lady heading the tour knew of my grandfather as her mother had dated him many moons ago. There were two pictures of my grandad, one as a new police officer and one in CID. We toured with a couple and our guide was happy for the woman to try on all the uniforms and sit in the cars and on the bikes.
Absolutely superb tour and our guide was friendly and very knowledgeable. I'd recommend this to anyone.

This is a super museum, where every exhibit tells a story. There's so much to see. Photographs, uniforms, badges, weapons, equipment, pictures and even a tardis!
Police cars, police cells, war time collection and a Victorian ambulance. Police hats to try on! What more could you want?

I was totally amased at the Cheshire Police museum. It is a large collection which id spaced out well throught the areas the museum occupies.
Staff were friendly and knowledge able. Lots of great historical stories of Cheshire police and the building its housed in.
Great gift shop very reasonable priced and excellent value for money.

Visited with friends yesterday. This is an excellent museum with some great exhibits. The guides are very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. There's a whole lot of history here and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
Highly Recomended.

This is not a location where you can simply drive by on the off chance to see if they are open. Some prior planning is needed here, as this quirky but welcoming venue is run entirely by volunteers and situated within a working police station. Firstly we got in touch via the form on the website to book and within hours the volunteer co-ordinator had contacted us to offer a time for our visit.
It's a historic building with genuine Victorian Police cells,a Tardis Police Box, a Police vehicle , umpteen uniforms , hats, badges , medals, A grisly array of vicious looking confiscated items, a fabulous display of corgi toy police cars , original art , historic posters etc. But best of all were the two former detectives who lead us around the museum and regaled us with tales and anecdotes that brought the exhibits to life. We listened open mouthed to the account of the Warrington Bombing , gasped in disbelief at the photos of the escapologist prisoner who returned to demonstrate his escape route to the police photographer.
The cherry on the cake for us was when our aspiring Police Officer of the future was given the chance to model the old style Police cape (whose use had featured in an exciting anecdote earlier) and a traditional Police helmet.
Well worth a visit! There is enough here to appeal to all age groups and I'm certain that our knowledgeable and charming guides are well used to adapting their presentation to suit their audience.

Me and my 8yr son had a great time visiting this museum. Very interesting place and amazing staff, everybody was so involved in explaining lots of things to us. One of the best things I really appreciated was that we had a guided tour. We've been told lovely stories about the police history and my son enjoyed dressing up and 'driving' a real police car. Many thanks to Alan, Peter and all lovely volunteers that made this happened.

Oaklands school Winsford visited the museum today. This was organised by a PCSO who is helping with our RESPECT course through the fire brigade.
We all thoroughly enjoyed the museum with lots of hands on things to do. Very informative & the people who run the museum voluntarily are gems of the community. Ex police with a passion to tell the story. Fabulous building to look at for architecture.
This is an all round fab day out if you love the history of our country.

Me and my daughter popped into this great little police museum located inside Washington police station and we had such a brilliant time.
This is actually bigger than the GMP museum in Manchester and has more things to see and appreciate. My 8yr loved getting dressed up as a cop and sitting in a real police car.
You can tell this is a museum dedicated to accuracy and passion for such an important emergency service. The staff were very friendly and highly knowledgeable about past and present policing activities.
We highly recommend this as a free day out. Superb place 👮♂️👮♂️😁❤

You have to book as it is manned by volunteers. It would be a great place to go We took a group of secondary age pupils from a School with pupils with the likes of Asperger’s.
