On our way to Newcastle and I'd always wanted to see this. Weirdly, I thought it would be more 'middle of nowhere ish then it was with a bigger park sort of area to walk around. Worth a 15 minute stop to stretch your legs but it could do with somewhere to get a coffee.

Amazing piece of architecture in the most economically deprived region of the UK
It feels like a nostalgic welcome to the north and Scotland as you past this magnificent steel statue and it is incredible how iconic it has become and hopefully can help draw more tourists to some tof the poorest towns in England, such as Hartlepool, Gateshead and Sunderland

Some what underwhelming, after seeing many tv programs in the past, I thought it would be alot bigger.
Whilst travelling to Scotland, we decided to stop by on the way past. The car park, was easy enough to get into, with plenty of spaces available at the time of visiting. Unfortunately there was alot of graffiti, & rubbish, which made the visit less enjoyable.

East to get to! Free parking!! A big field around it, so when it’s nice weather people bring sports balls and play. People can have a family picnic! Great day out for family

Very easy to get to, just off the A1. Free parking just at the bottom of the statue. An amazing piece of sculpture and a great photo opportunity. Definitely worth a stop if you happen to pass by.

No trip to the North East would be complete without a few minutes spent taking in this enormous statue. It really is very powerful and iconic. free parking and well taking a few minutes to have a look

A must with any visit to Newcastle. Came for a weekend away and visited on out way home. Free car park and walked to it. A nice detour

Love how you can walk up to this statue and take photos. Love the fact it has free parking as well. It wasn’t that busy either but I expect it does get busy on summer days. Well worth a visit.

I hate this statue, it is terrible 😞. I do not feel proud when i lok at it? I recently came here aftee a short visit to limmerick, isreland. When i came back from iceland I discovered the angel of the north was just here. Im conculsion i much prefer poppadoms in hartlepool uk. They are the angel of the north. Goodbye

Hi, the Angel is on the A167 Durham Road just before it joins the A1.
There are loads of buses that use this road as a southern route out of the Newcastle/Gateshead conurbation. I don't use that many buses so can't recommend anything other than the X21/21/22 services which all go to Durham.
It's only 5 miles from the station to the Angel, so a taxi may work out as cheaper if there were a few of you to share?

The sculpture is designed to capture our imaginations so it's not identifiable as male or female, you see the form as you want to see it whether that's male or female.
Either way the angel is stunning and you will enjoy a visit :o))
