I took two children to the Museum on a Teachers Strike day. It was very good, educational and fun for them to learn about the history of their town. Staff was lovely and attentive, we couldn't ask for more. And it was free admission!

This is one place you should not miss if you’re going to Newton Abbot. Their displays are changed every now and then. You will find some absolutely fascinating bits of history to a town that is unimpressive in many respects. Do talk to the curators if they are around because they will fill you in with snippets of interesting historical facts. There’s plenty of tea shops nearby, after an hours browsing. Great place for kids of all ages. Interactive displays.

There are some very interesting exhibits on display here, a few of which are ‘hands on’ and interactive. It was really satisfying to be able to manually operate the old levers of Newton Abbot’s former Signal Box and see the Railway signals mounted nearby, respond accordingly with a resounding clunk. You get the feeling the levers we’re made to last for ever, it’s a pity local railways didn’t similarly survive. Railwayana from from the great days of GWR, South Devon and Newton to Moreton Hampstead Railway give a hint of days gone by. From the Neolithic to Victorian times, nicely displayed exhibits all contrive to capture your interest. In short, it’s a small museum that leaves a large impression and is certainly well worth visiting. Dave, a Volunteer Staff member was welcoming and helpful throughout my visit lasting some 50 mins

I'm glad we came here today. Its in a converted church and there is helpful volunteers to assist your enquiries. Interactive displays and plenty to see and do with great history of the town. Highly recommended

Really enjoyed the visit to Newton Abbot museum. The kids had a great time and enjoyed the activities. Very impressed with the lady who worked there. She was super friendly and great with the kids. Thanks

Amazing museum for children. So interactive with lots of fun things to do and the lady that welcomed us was really lovely giving the children activity sheets and talking through what they needed to do.

Great little museum and a lovely way to occupy children for an hour. There's lots of hands on activities and dress up which they will love. Even better its free !!!

What a good use for a former church! Excellent layout, very informative and interesting exhibitions. There is something for everyone here and parking is right next door. Easy stroll into town afterwards too. A special mention to staff who were so friendly and helpful.
