Lovely gentry house, in attractive grounds,seems a rural oasis yet close to the M6 and busy A53.
Very attractive situation with the church next door and the very attractive Mainwaring arms just across the way.On a nice sunny afternoon a joy.
The house is liveable and well worth seeing the family history absolutely fascinating as it goes back to the Norman conquest.Don't miss the stables.My tour with Wendy first class an afternoon well spent

Visited here with a group of friends.
The setting is superb- parkland, scenic lake and impressive drive. Because of very wet weather we were not able to walk the garden.
Very friendly guide who was informative and approachable. The house has a beautiful warm feeling, so it was a delight to walk around.
House has much to interest- with intrinsic architectural interest. The walk was centred on the family portraits- and perhaps the house has more to give of itself to provide more variety.
We were pleased to have been.

Had our Office party here early December. Traditional Christmas fayre in lovely warm surroundings.

As recent HHA members we decided to visit as it is only 45 minutes from our home but it is only £5 for non members. It has very limited opening as it is a true family home. The 45 minute guided tour was very informative and you get the 'family vibes' as you tour. The walk around the lake and lily pond afterwards was very tranquil and the bluebell wood was open. The stable block is truly unique and we also strolled down the path to the quaint church. A pleasant few hours.

My wife and I have been members of HHA for three years now (rejoined £77.00....visited 25 properties last year) and visited Whitmore Hall on Wednesday 15th after visiting Shugborough first.
The building is a Grade 1 listed building (family home of Mainwarings, descendants of the original Norman owners over 900 years) and is of architectural and historical interest of Carolinian Manor House built in 1676 and built around the timber framed Tudor house (you can see parts of it from behind the walls shown within the hall). The 45 mins tour was interesting and informative (The Hall was leased out 1863-1920's, 30 yrs was by pottery manufacturer Thomas Twyford). Special interest is the Elizabethan stable block which is one of the oldest in the country. There is a lake with waterfall which was built in 1800.
It is open this year 1 May-31 August on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 2.00-5.00 with the tours at 2.15/3.00/3.45...£5.00 adults, free HHA members.
