this place gets the sun in the afternoon, several small businesses offering home cooked food, it just a nice spot, there is a little traffic going by but still enjoyable

Perhaps the prettiest and most peaceful spot in Pickering, always maintained with lovely flower beds and benches for your takeaways. It is a picturesque photo opportunity and often bathed in sunshine. Traffic nearby though which can be annoying. Nonetheless and ideal spot for a sit and a rest.

What a great little town - Pickering is packed full of interesting things to look at and this little garden and cross certainly make the must see list!

This Market Cross is so well Kept the flowers and Grass well kept a very nice place to sit and think there is an Ornamental bike that also changes with season

Very well kept and a lovely place to sit. Colourful borders and benches to rest awhile. Ornamental bike that changes with the seasons.

it's a nice small area of grassland well looked after and cared for.
It's free and if you want a nice place to sit with your sandwich drink or snack then this is the place plenty of benches in a small but pleasant garden grounds.

As has already been mentioned, the market cross is situated in a pleasant area of small parkland just off the Market Place and is a pleasant place to sit for a while and watch the world go by.

Whilst parked up have a quick bite to eat, we noticed how pretty and well tended the area and gardens around the market cross were. It would be nice if all towns were like this

A great weekend there was plenty going on at the market cross with wartime dancing vendors selling food kiddies rides and you could also buy your 1940s clothes from stalls there

My husband and I are visiting London in September for our 50th wedding anniversary celebration. His ancestors come from the Brawby, Kirby Misperton, Pickering area. They are the Norton and Noble families. I would love to visit the area. How long would it take from London (Lancaster-Hyde Park ) to Pickering and what would be best to travel there? A rental car? Bus? Thank you for any help.
