Amazing, high quality tour. Peter, our guide was very informative, with an amusing light hearted commentary. We had native tropical fruit tasting as well as a delicious afternoon tea featuring local produce and homemake goodies. A special experience and I will be taking all my visitors there in the future.

This tour is so well worth the time and money. Margo and Peter are wonderful hosts and guides.
We spent a lovely afternoon wandering through the fruit trees, learning about the orchard. What a beautiful setting for a tour!!
These guys really know their stuff when it comes to native fruits. Tasting fresh (and frozen out-of-season) fruits from the orchard was an experience! Native Australian fruits might not be to everyone’s tastes, but we definitely enjoyed it.
This was followed up by an amazing spread of food, local cheeses, tea, and home baked goodies featuring the fruits, all laid out on the verandah, overlooking the orchard. We were even lucky enough to spot a cassowary wandering through the orchard!
We’ll definitely be back again with more visitors. Thank you so much Margo and Peter!

This is the second time we have been here because its just so good and informative. . Peter will pick you up at the top farm gate (you leave your car there) and drive you down a steep track (you may see a cassowary) to their idyllically located cottage a few hundred metres below where Margo awaits you.
Peter then starts the tour while Margo goes to the kitchen and to start preparing a sumptuous afternoon tea (more later!).
Peter takes you through is tropical bush food orchard and shows you many fruit trees /bushes. He give background about the trees, you get to taste the fruits (straight off the tree in-season, otherwise he has tray with frozen fruit to taste in the off-season) and you can crush / smell the fragrant leaves (used for teas).
Now its time for afternoon tea. Margo serves it on an atmospheric veranda - great rustic feel with bric-a brac - with a lovely garden / orchard view. The juice and the home made spices all come from the orchard; the latter you taste with breads / crackers. Later a coffee or orchard tea with a incredibly yummy home made cake (using orchard ingredients of course). And to finish you off not to forget the nip of orchard Davidson Plum liqueur. All these spices / teas / liqueur are for sale and great small gifts to take home or back overseas.
We especially enjoyed the conversation during the tea - Margo and Peter are so informative and with a very interesting background (you need to visit yourself to find out).
This farm is personal, educational, authentic and definitely not touristy - only small groups - you are very likely to be there by yourselves. It is also great value! At first glance is may seems a little expensive for $45 pp (less for younger kids) especially if you are a large family, but the combination of the tour and really filling afternoon tea means you have just saved lunch costs. We have travelled the world with our kids and have done many tours - this one is really good........so no excuses.....come and visit ....kids love it....and adults as well (suitable for granny).
About 2-3 hours later you are dropped back to your car and can continue your journey of the wonderful Atherton Tablelands (Tolga Bat Hospital also worth it).
The Rainforest Heart Farm is very conveniently located10 minutes from Milla Milla just off the Palmerston Highway from Innisfail and only 5 minutes away from the renowned Mungalli Creek Diary (also worth a stop).

We booked this tour as we were keen to visit a farm, and in particular Rainforest Heart, as we were curious to learn more about a tropical orchard and the growing process. The farm is located in a valley - a truly idyllic setting.
Peter met us at the farm gate, giving us a tour of the farm, and Margo joined us at the farm house, a delightful 1920s building. We received an excellent overview of the tropical plants and in particular what they do with the fruit produced before Margo provided an amazing morning tea, allowing us to taste different types of products and local fruits with local cheeses. The piece de resistance was the cheesecake, which Margo used their Davidson plum jam and lillipillies.
Margo and Peter are warm and very knowledgeable and we thoroughly enjoyed the morning with them. This tour can be combined with a tour of Mungalli Creek dairy which is well worthwhile.
Thoroughly recommended!!

We were greeted at the gate to the Rainforest Heart Orchard by Peter. The drive down the winding road and the history about this amazing farm is very interesting and inspiring.
The orchard is set in a gorgeous valley in the rainforest and filled with native fruit trees.
Margo and Peter are great and knowledgeable hosts and on the walk around the orchard, we learned so much about native fruit trees, working in tropical climate and developing a taste for the pioneers way of live.
The afternoon tea, featuring their produce and products, was an absolute delight! Serving on us with refreshing Davidson’s Plum Tea, delicious spreads and dips and the absolute divine Baked Lemon Aspen Cheesecake with Davidson’s Plum Glaze. What a great way to finish a delightful day on the tropical Atherton Tablelands.

Well worth the visit. I was lucky enough to have been recommended Rainforest Heart from a friend and visited the orchard in December. The orchard is set in a gorgeous valley in the rainforest and filled with native fruit trees. I have never heard or tried these delicious fruits! Margo and Peter are great and knowledgeable hosts, and made sure we knew about and tasted each fruit. Finishing the tour with an amazing tea spread.

The tour of the Rainforest Heart farm was fascinating, informative and inspiring. It is refreshing to find people dedicated to 'right livelihood' and so enthusiastic about their work. The amount of work that Peter and Margo have put into Rainforest Heart is amazing and inspiring. The morning tea was delicious, too. Seeing the beautiful cows and meeting Tara and Fred (the resident dogs) added to the overall experience of visiting a working farm/native fruit orchard.

What a wonderful way to get to know some of our native fruits! You are met at the gate where the experience begins with the winding drive down past the orchards as Peter, fills you in on the some of the history of the farm. The walk around the orchard while sampling various fruit is at a very leisurely pace. Peter is an excellent host who makes you feel like you are friends come to visit. The morning tea, featuring their produce and products, was an absolute delight! A wonderfully different way to spend a morning in the Tablelands!!

I bought their products a couple of month ago at Eco Fiesta Cairns and I had been interested in the orchard since then. One of my friend loves plants so she wanted to go with me. The property was absolutely in the rainforest. Peter was lovely, he told us the history of the property and orchard. Peter showed us several native fruits such as Davidson's plum, lemon aspen, lilly pilly and finger-lime. The finger-lime was the one my friend had been looking for so she was so happy to see it. We also enjoyed the tasting of the fruits and products. I definitely recommend this tour to the people who are interested in the Australian native fruits.

Peter had a friendly and welcoming greeting for us at the car park where he encouraged us to read the information wall before boarding the minibus. Along the 2klm drive to their orchard and home, Peter offered information about their property and it's history and how it has evolved under his and Margot's ownership. Deep in the rainforest and arriving at their home, Margot and Taro (the dog) gave an equally warm welcome. We were soon guided through the orchard, smelling, touching and learning about the rainforest fruits. We were rewarded with tastings of the many and truly delicious delights created by Margot. Locals and visitors, I recommend this wonderful rainforest experience.
