Military museum is quite good for free. But parking is not free. To exit you need to get a token (three pound) from visitor centre. Also cafe doesn't take cash. That was annoying.

Visited yesterday to meet a friend for a coffee as it's an halfway meeting point. The cafe food was not up to standard and quite highly priced for what you got. Coffee prices were also high compared to normal tea rooms. We were then slapped with a £3 each parking charge. Getting out was fun too with the jigsaw type coin they give you. We won't be visiting again sadly.

Just back from a walk around and visited the courtyard coffee shop. The service in there is at a very high standard and was greeted with a smile as soon as I entered. The coffee is the best I’ve had, and the food was lovely and fresh. I’ll be returning next week and looking forward to the vintage fairground.

Hadn’t been to thoresby since before lockdown, so was unpleasantly surprised by the relocation of the car park,And having to pay,And the “ fight” to exit the carpark ,using the Very strange token.
I understand that things have to change,however none of the ones here are to the better.
I asked for a Pot of tea,and was told they weren’t able to provide a pot, because “ they keep being stolen,and we can’t afford to keep replacing them “( l know the standing joke about teaspoons going missing,but Teapots?..)
I then asked for a jug of water to dilute the tea made in the mug, to be given,wait for it! A Teapot!!!
I related the story to my pal who was waiting for me at our table. She thought l was joking!
The menu has changed,so l am unable to find anything suitable for a light lunch,and nor can my friend .
We then attempted to go one of the familiar walks,to discover that 2 of the routes were “ no go” areas,due to locked gates being put across previously accessible roads.
Not a pleasant experience all in all.Plus,none of the courtyard shops were open.
We Certainly will,NOT be returning,sad to say .
We have been visiting for over 20 years . No longer.

Just meeting for an apres Christmas ReBoot with a friend & our dogs for a simple dog walk & coffee & cake..
Not enough dog bins around place, so can’t really criticise for folk throwing Pooh Bags into undergrowth , but not good.. dog walkers do try.. but Really???
Coffee ok, Flapjack was so dry & stale..Pre Christmas Methinks! Should have taken it back (even discerning dog refused it). Bitterly disappointing..

A small collection of shops offering very similar products. Nothing of special quality or interest. Ok for a 30 minute wander, but it is not worth making a special trip to.

The military museum. A very good display and very informative from the formation of the British Army through to modern day warfare involving The Notts and Sherwood Foresters Regiment.

I enjoyed looking around what shops were open but some of the items were quite expensive. One of the problems is that the majority of the hotel guests weren't aware the Courtyard is not part of Thoresby Hall so weren't carrying cash/money with them (the hotel being cash free) so had to go back to the hotel to get cash.

Although it was an enjoyable day at Thoresby Court, the segway itself was somewhat lacking.
The location of the segway itself was hard to find, there was one sign. We asked at the bike rental and at the courtyard. Neither could tell us where to go. We eventually found it as we could see someone riding a segway and headed in that direction.
My mum (69 years old) and myself (44 years old), still got there 30 minutes before as instructed for registration. We were booked in, took 2 minutes which was great, but then told to come back for the start time of 11am.
When we came back, we were given a safety talk, and then all 12 of us had an individual practice.
We played a few games to get us used to the manoeuvrability of the segway. During this time photos were taken by the staff, this felt more like a photo opportunity than anything. We also had photos taken of everyone participating, in their own groups.
40 minutes later, we finally went off for a 20 minute ride on the segway. All 12 of us (instructor made 13), followed each other on a very sedate path.
When we got back, we were all given the opportunity to buy the photos for £20, this did include a voucher for our next Segway to be used in any of the 14 locations.
We have both been on a segway a few times before, and this was the most unexciting one we have ever had, sorry. At 69 my mum thought is was "boring and sedate".
The staff were friendly and great, but all in all, 20 minutes 'real' riding was not worth it, and the riding was very very sedate. If that is what you are looking for, this is perfect. But if like me, and my 69 year old mum, you like to have a bit of a play and have a little adventure, this is not what you should be booking.
Only did not rate it poor as the staff were lovely.
Had to add 'friends' under who was with me. It was family, my mum, but we did not have 'young children' or 'teens', so you can't use the family description. Think that should be updated!!

The car park has recently been moved from the grassy area in front of the courtyard to a large new car park behind the round house. There is now a £3 car park fee, normally payable by card on a ticket machine, but on our visit, the ticket machines weren’t working, so a car park exit token had to be bought from the visitor centre. Be careful to insert the token the right way up on exiting the car park or the barrier won’t open. The courtyard itself has a couple of cafes and gift shops, an upmarket ladies clothes shop and a military museum. Sadly, the gallery was closed up with no signs of it opening any time soon. From here you can also wander round the Thoresby parkland or visit the next door Warners hotel. A pleasant afternoon.

why have they moved the car park not taking the disabled and elderly into consideration

Your parking arrangements no longer take into consideration the elderly and disabled who appear to be the majority of your REGULAR visitors. Visited yesterday and did a turn round - coffee and lunch elsewhere

went again today and the parking has been rearranged it is now a fair walk from the disabled parking to the courtyard , no parking by the archway entrance now . don't know if this is a permanent arrangement but if it is we wont be visiting as often if at all

Hi, I believe my husband s uncle John lanes military medal is at thorseby hall military museum . Can you plse confirm as we would like to visit,. I am severely disabled what is the access like
