Must see als je in de Somme bent, een van de mooiste en grootse begraafplaats/memorial in de omgeving.
Vlak bij in Pozières zit Le Tommy, erg leuk klein museum om ook meteen even te gaan bekijken, waar je ook een wat kunt drinken en eten.

We were there on a cold day with chilling winds blowing. The place is well maintained and looked after, but with overcast skies and the wind and quiet - depressing to think of all the young wasted lives the memorial represents.
The rows of headstones just highlights where a generation of Australia's youth was wasted. Was good to be able to pay respects but very sad.

Very well kept but so, so sad walking down the rows to see the ages of the young soldiers that died. It is good to see that they are still remembered for their bravery.

Large cemetery with large walls bearing the names of the soldiers with no known grave. Well keep and beautiful flowers. Worth a visit.

Lutyens again. This memorial stands alone at the roadside surrounded by countryside. It is wonderfully maintained, despite showing signs of age. This one holds a special significance as a family member is listed there.

This was my first visit to the area and have just turned 40. Why did it take so long! My 2 young girls were amazed at what they saw and I hope they don't forget. This site was the first f many throughout the day. Immaculately kept and a good memorial for the fallen.

Sin olvidar nunca lo que nos trajo a esta zona de Francia, que era el recordar y visitar los espacios relacionados con la Gran Guerra y tambien alguno con la WW2, lo espectacular de algunos de ellos, la belleza visial, o hasta el tamaño ( por grande, o por muy pequeño ) la visita a algunos cementerios o memoriales nos da la sensacion que son imprescindibles o por lo menos muy recomendadas. Este es el caso de uno de ellos. El memorial que rodea al cementerio, cerrado al exterior por unos paneles que recuerdan a las victimas de la Gran Guerra, su portal de entrada, con la sensacion de pasar a un lugar que no vas a olvidar, y el pasear por su interior y recorrer y observar algunas de sus tumbas, hicieron que esta visita fuera de las que mas nos marcaron en nuestra ruta.
Tengo que decir que en los dias que recorrimos el Somme y la zona de Ypres vimos muchos, muchos espacios que te dejan huella por su historia y por su belleza, y este fue uno de ellos. Merece la pena acercarse y invertir un poco del tiempo de cada uno en esta visita

Beyond words, such loss. The cemetry gardens were beautiful, the flowers in full bloom amongst the headstones...so many young men buried, so many names on the walls....

Our Guide Richard Porter took us to the most relevant places of interest , A must when visiting the Battlefields and not having to selfdrive yourself which is an extra so you can benefit to look around rather than drive yourself

Hi, I am looking for a way from Dieppe to Pozieres Memorial to pay honour ro my uncle who died fighting on March 23rd. 1918.
I plan to take the ferry over from Newhaven and I am wondering if there is a taxi firm I can contact that would take me there and back?
I live in Canada and plan to make this trip in May.

I think it opens at 10am, but I'm not sure what time it closes. Hope that helps.

Can recommend the best way to get to the Pozieres Memorial from Albert Train Station using public transportation.
Also wondering what (if any) the opening hours of the cemetery are?

Take a taxi from Albert. I had one to Butte de Warlencourt which cost 30 euros then walked back to Albert along the D929 (Albert/Bapaume road). This was a whole day's excursion but there are a lot of things along that road. I don't recommend this walk unless you seriously like walking on grassy verges while huge lorries thunder past all day but you will feel you've achieved something. There are no buses. The taxi office in Albert will give you a price for an excursion and pick you up/drop you off at Albert station. The company I used was Albert taxis but I wouldn't expect much change out of 60 euros and it might even be more than that. To the second part of your question, I've never known a cemetery to be closed. Museums usually have at least one day per week closed and some close for lunch too.
