Templos di Giunone is the first Greek temple you can see, when you go to the Temples Valleys, in the surroundings of Agrigento, in the South of Sicily. Really, it is wonderful and it is for me the first Greek temple I see out of Greece, Turkey and the Italian Peninsula. It is a very well preserved temple, where you can see his silhouette and a lot of columns. Really great! The best beginning of the visit!

The temple of Juno (apparently it was actually Athena’s in Greek times) is the first one you will encounter when entering the archaeological park from above. It must have been the twin of the Concordia, both being hexastyle periptera of Doric style and almost equal size. But the state of preservation is very different as here are standing the columns of one side with its entablature and only a few columns on the other three sides.

Although not a complete structure it was by far one of the most impressive of all the structures in the valley. Perched up on the hill and you last stop .. on the way there you find yourself walking on a beautiful path way along side old olive trees and some archeological ruins. Some of the olive trees are younger but there is a huge one on the way that's beautiful. When you walk up the steps walkway up you really get an understanding of how huge and impressive this is. Plaques with info in a few languages are available explaining history. highly recommend

This temple is a jewel of antiquity overlooking the Valley of the Temples of Agrigento, magnificent and to be visited calmly, in months when it is not too hot. Recommended guided tours with the official site guides, not to be missed passing by Agrigento.

Suggestive is definitely worth visiting, perhaps the best time is April May, after it is not recommended for the heat. The car can be parked comfortably in a large parking lot and then take a shuttle so you can visit the temples starting from the temple of Juno and then everything else downhill

The first temple you see after entering the ticket booth of the Valley of the Temples is the Temple of Junone (Hera). It is a beautiful ruin built on a hill 120 meters above sea level. It was completely burned down in the Battle of Punic in 406 BC and almost completely destroyed by an earthquake in the Middle Ages, but 25 typical Doric columns and architraves remain today.

This temple is at the highest and eastern part of the “valley”. It is the second most complete and is really amazing. Build about 450BC and still partially standing is a completely amazing thing to see. Really great.

We visited this temple on a hill along a well-defined path with stairs and handrails in some sections. It is necessary to have comfortable shoes and sunscreen, a hat or cap. Bring water because they don't sell it and the walk between the temple is hot.

da dove iniziare la visita alla Valle dei templi?esiste un biglietto cumulativo?

Consiglio, portatevi una buona scorta di acqua perché quella delle fontane non è potabile e al bar speculano sui prezzi, inoltre vi conviene una visita serale perché fa molto caldo durante il giorno e il museo si trova a 1 km dal parco, dovreste raggiungerlo a piedi o pagare la navetta (parcheggio non ce n'è)
