A truly amazing experience! Highly recommended! Feeding the kangaroos and holding the baby Tasmanian Devil were once in a lifetime memory! A must see!

We arrived at Wings via a cruise ship tour. We were greeted by a very nice a generation family member I believe her name was lily. She had great personality and explain how everything worked. Very nicely kept grounds the animals seem to be happy you could book interactions with them as well our favorite part was feeding the kangaroos one even had a baby in their pouch. I would definitely come back because we didn't have enough time being on a tour from the cruise ship and would book it as a separate thing to avoid the crowds.

Great little park with well kept enclosures and good variety of native and exotic animals. The keepers we spoke to were informative and friendly. However, the front reception staff were not very welcoming and bordered on rude. They were really slow to acknowledge us and offered up no information about the park when we paid to go in. It would have been nice to have been given some direction from the start as with the inside doors shut it wasn't obvious where to go. We still had a good time it would just be nice to see some better customer service. Some additional feedback would be to put in some steps next to the fences so that that kids can view the animals without having to be picked up.

Enjoyed this very much. Ran by a family who obviously works very hard to make the experience enjoyable for you. All the animal pens are clean and have well posted signs on the animals. You are able to walk through a large area and hand feed the kangaroo's. The Tasmanian Devils are hilarious to watch.

A great wildlife park. They are a small outfit and definitely rely on tourism, mainly from cruise ships, but they do a good job managing the groups and we never felt crowded while we were there. The pens are very natural looking and it was great seeing the local animals, especially the Tasmanian Devils. They are deceptively cute!
There is a large kangaroo enclosure and you can feed and pet them if you wish. For additional fees, you can hold animals like a baby wallaby (not sure the $150 price tag is worth that - but you can decide for yourself).
There are some steep trails to navigate, so I wouldn't recommend if you have mobility issues. But if you want to see a variety of local and not-so-local birds, reptiles and mammals, I recommend this place.

Loved how you could get up close to the animals, they were easy to see. My grandson loved the kangaroos the best but he is only two and loved looking at all the other animals …. Over all I would highly recommend this place, we visited Tasmania Zoo today and it has nothing on Wings Wildlife Park

Loved this spot: unpowered camping is available across the road at a most reasonable rate if visiting the Park: the Wildlife Park itself is a home to rescued animals and has a wide range of creatures in-house. A worthwhile cause to support and a nicely presented wildlife refuge.

Not a pleasant experience
My family went the for lunch and a wildlife visit and we had lunch first but that was enough to send us home.
We ordered our lunch and right away there was problems…..the menu was different to their POS so couldn’t get what we wanted, then we sat down and waited over 45 minutes for a chicken burger and chips and a kids nuggets and chips.
It arrived warm, not hot and tables that had ordered after us were getting served before us. A waitress came over and checked our order (as if they had forgotten) 20 minutes prior, and once served, no napkins, no forks for the salad and not a peep of sorry we were late.
As for the meal? I would have to say a complete rip-off. 3 nuggets and 10 chips, a small chicken burger with a side of chips and 2 drinks was $50.
I am speechless and the quality of food and the stingy serving we received, and the lack of trained staff was enough to make us leave and not recommend eating in this rip-off restaurant.
As for the park? Didn’t go in because of the way we were treated and stingy, expensive, late food we received.
Never again.
Bring your own food if you go there.

The valley of peace and harmony, camping ground excellent with no dogs.
Staff first class I have been visiting this place for the last 20 years and it is like going home. The spiritual connections run deep here for those who love nature.

I have visited Wings a few times over the years both as a tourist and as a resident of Tasmania.
I have always enjoyed the close-up encounters with the variety of critters that live there. The staff are always friendly and helpful and there's a great shop and cafe.
Wings is a wonderful place to visit, firstly the drive through the Gunns Plains area is lovely and what is so great about Wings is that it's not so huge it just feels like a business that happens to involve wildlife.
It's a professional, caring family business that always offers something new each visit. I always go because I love Devils but have often been distracted by some of the beautiful birds on display. Wings is a place that rescues and educates too.
If you are not already aware this wonderful place has been terribly damaged by recent floods in northern Tassie.
Please take a look at their Facebook page for updates or find ways to help them.
Good luck Wings please don't give up !!

Hi! I’m visiting next month and reading the reviews. I’m really big into animal rights. Do you guys think the animals were happy? I saw some negative reviews about the one koala- does he have a friend now? Is he happy? What is the overall goal of the sanctuary- do they ever rehabilitate to release them back into the wild? Are the animals overfed from tourists? I appreciate your insights!

It’s a family run park & they do an amazing job of caring for injured or orphaned animals which wouldn’t survive in the wild. It’s a charity so they depend on visitors to boost funds.

How much time would you recommend allowing to see the entire park? What is the acreage? Would you say 1 hour is sufficient?

I believe 1 hour is too short a time to see the park and all it has to offer. I would expect that at least 2 hours is a more reasonable length of time to spend at the park.

Can a person with limited mobility enjoy Wings? Use 2 canes for short distances, bring a fold up wheelchair for longer distances, can manage a few steps. Thank you!

I think you spoke with me via phone/email. If not please let us know. Plenty of access available for a wheelchair (accept up where the wedge tailed eagles are - there’s on incline)

Can I get there from the cruise ship by way of public transit or shuttle without a cruise excursion that doesn't allow enough time.

Hello,
You can negotiate a fare with a taxi company in Burnie or travel to the makers workshop in Burnie and there look for Crawn Motors coach company, they offer transportation too.
