Hi there Sweet9083, We were surprised and very disappointed to receive the “Terrible” review from April about your tasting visit with us. Since then our staff has discussed the review. No one can remember either of you expressing any disappointment during your visit. Our winery is historic. Built in 1385, the building is the oldest in Traben-Trarbach and is enormous. Much of the building, including the entire top floor, has not been used for centuries. We usually do not visit this part of the winery, but you wished to see it - it is a masterful and fascinating piece of architecture, and the earthen floor is not swept, which would be impossible - as it is earthen AND a place where the Knights rode their horses. True, it is not kept clean as it is unused. Hover, the building is not "strewn with trash" as you wrote in your reviews. I think this is completely unfair. I would like to speak to the broken glass on the stairs. Our winemaker had carried several cases of wine for a delivery to a customer that morning. He dropped 3 bottles on the stairs right before you arrived for your tasting. Chris, our administrator explained the situation to you. It was unavoidable to both clean the stairs as well as greet you and provide you with a tasting. So yes, we can sorry you had to walk around the broken bottles over a few stairs - an accident which happened right before your arrival, Again, it is disappointing to see this review. We are a small family winery. We do our best to host guests at our old winery, always with a member of our regular staff. All of our other guests have been pleased, both with the historic building as well as our wines - as can be evidenced by the other reviews.
