Dieser Gebäudekomplex ist von aussen von allen Seiten einfach spektakulär und von innen so voller Details! Ich denke beim ersten Besuch bekommt man gar nicht alles zu sehen :-)

Most unusual retirement home with centuries' old tradition

We found this place by serendipity during the on-foot exploration of Bernkastel-Kues. Quite interesting to discover. A church, building complex, amazing cemetery. For the past half a thousand years it has been serving as a hospital and hospicium for old men. Today it still functions as an old age home for males.

Die Bibliothek ist wegen der Handschriften sehr sehenswert.

Located in Kues at the foot of the Moselle River bridge

This white 2 storey building with red trim stands out near the foot of the Moselle River bridge in Kues. This retirement home for elderly men was built by Bishop Nicholas von Kues in the 15th century and continues today with that purpose. We had seen the statue of the Bishop Nicholas von Kues in front of the Florienskirche in Koblenz on which this structure was shown as a bas relief carving. It was incredible for us to see the building referred to in that monument. It also houses the bishop's library. Good photos of St. Nicholas hospital can be taken from the Bernkastel side of the river.

L'église St Nicolas se situe à dix minutes à pieds en face de Bernkastel. Il suffit de traverser le pont qui surplombe la Moselle. L'endroit est très calme et peu fréquenté par les touristes. Cette église est jointe à un petit hôpital. Pour y accéder, ne cherchez pas l'entrée, il faut traverser l'hôpital.

Das von Cusanus gegründete St. Nikilaus Hospital gilt heute noch als Seniorenheim. Die berühmte Bibliothek kann besichtigt werden.
Nikolus Cusanus, gebildeter Philosoph, Theologe und Mathematiker starb 1464 in Todi (Umbrien), sein Grab ist in der Kirche San Pietro in Vincoli in Rom, sein Herz aber ruht in der Kapelle des von ihm gestifteten St. Nikilaus Hospitals.

かつては修道院であった

ベルンカステルとクースを結ぶ橋のクース側に建物はあります。１５世紀に建てられた修道院であったようです。現在は養老院になっています。中世の時代はワイン製造に修道院が大きく貢献しているので、モーゼルワインもここで作られていたと思われます。

St. Nikolaus Hospital/Cusanusstift is located on Kues side by the side of Moselle River. It is now used as a retirement complex for aged males. There is also a nice chapel by the side of this Gothic building.

This beautifully maintained set of buildings, erected in 1450, is the largest preserved Gothic building in the Moselle Region, There is a chapel that is free to enter. There a beautiful triptyk on the altar. It is co-located with a winery.

Nice church and retirement home !

We took the little train to visit Bernkastel-Hues and on the Kues side , not far from the Mosel , we saw this beautiful building dating from the XV th century . The guide told us that it was built as a retirement complex for old men !
