I had the tip from a customer as I was in the region with our son. I had answered without expectation as it was supposed to be an attraction for our son.
What came next already impressed me. The two guides you took us through the mine on Fridays at noon with their experience of their contributed.
Nevertheless, this leadership has captured me and has grown a bit historically here as well. But it was also very impressive in terms of actual German mining.

I was skeptical and didn't want to go on the tour, but since we were in a group, I went along anyway, thank God. It was a great experience. Just the entrance, crammed into a "cabin" at 600 meters and then the "hellish journey" through shafts at 800 meters with many interesting stops, e.g. the crystal cave, and the highlight: the deepest concert hall in the world. Here we were able to perform a few songs and be amazed by the incredible acoustics.

My husband did the 20km bike ride in Merkers today. He was absolutely thrilled. A great sporting event. Cycling combined with a mine tour. A unique, highly recommended experience and worth every cent!

We were there too and went on a guided tour. Up to 800m underground and many kilometers in the yellow - I'll call it a passenger truck 😄
It was great, very nice and humorous employees who drove properly. Lots of aisles. Lots to see, lots to be amazed by. The laser show at the end was particularly nice. We can only recommend it.

Great experience up to 800m deep in the earth's bowels. It's best to book the tour in advance online. Smoking is prohibited and helmets must be worn in the mine. Before entering the mine, instructions are given and helmets are issued. You go down in an elevator. You shouldn't be afraid of tight spaces, but after about a minute you're at the bottom. The tour guide assigned us a vehicle in which 30 of us sat. In my opinion, it was too small for 30 people. We all had a seat, but it was as cramped as fish in a tin can. At some of the stations we stopped at, we couldn't get out and because of the cramped seating position we couldn't see much of what was being explained because it was impossible to turn around in the seat. Hence one star deducted from the rating. Where you could get out to look at something, it was all very impressive. The tour guide explained things really well. Questions were welcome and answered brilliantly.

Det var vildt. 800 m ned under jorden. Vildt spændende. Pga vejarbejde nåede vi ikke starttidspunktet. Vi ringede dertil og de hjalp med ruten. Samt de fik os hjulpet ned i jorden til resten af guideturen. Mega god service. Hvis man er i Thüringen, bør man besøge dette sted. Absolut vores højdepunkt på ferien.

Great visit and interesting tour in the mines. Plan for being there for a few hours and the tour was in German. I emailed and made a reservation and everything worked out great.

Eine Anmeldung ist hier unbedingt erforderlich, einfach hinkommen und einfahren geht nur, wenn vorgebuchte Besucher die Buchung kurzfristig zurückgeben oder nicht anreisen.
Der ganze Ablauf ist gut durchorganisiert und wird von einem Bergmann begleitet, der die nötigen Informationen vor und während des Besuches gibt und dabei immer einen flotten Spruch drauf hat. Da es im Förderkorb etwas eng wird, gilt hier Maskenpflicht - diese sowie Helme werden vor der Einfahrt ins Bergwerk ausgegeben.
Das Salzbergwerk in ca. 800 m Tiefe hat eine Ausdehnung, die kaum zu glauben ist. Wir sind mit einigen Unterbrechungen fast drei Stunden mit dem LKW unterwegs gewesen. Bei den Zwischenhalten erhält man jede Menge Informationen und hat auch ausreichend Zeit, die Attraktionen zu bewundern und zu fotografieren.
Der Besuch des Bergwerks ist sehr zu empfehlen und mal ein außergewöhnliches Erlebnis.

We booked this tour on a Saturday as we were living very close by in the neighboring village. It starts with a short safety briefing and then a 90 second elevator ride 400 m down into the earth. From there you ride on a truck through a vast number of underground roads and visit various points of interest - the museum, an underground event area with music and light show, the crystal room and finally the WW2 known Gold Room. The tour guides are old miners and have a super knowledge of everything. Tour duration is about 3 hours. Remember to have a beer at the Kristallbar - 800 m deep down.

Wie sind die Temperaturen im Bergwerk? Wir werden es an einem sehr heißen Tag besuchen und sind daher sehr luftig angezogen. Brauchen wir wärmere Kleidung?

we want to get a reservation for 4 on Sunday 9 August 2015 to tour the Merkers Salt Mines. We don't really speak German and we're hoping to get an English tour if possible. Can you help us out and let us know what we need to do?
