Cremallera de Núria is a rack railway train to go up to the Nuria Valleys, in Pyrenees Region, in the North of Catalonia. This rack railway links Ribes de Freser, Queralbs and Nuria Valleys and it is a very nice excursion for adults and children all year. We came here last december with my 8 years old daughter and she was very happy seeing views from the train. In fact, she wanted to go up and down sometimes last Christmas. Very nice for all ages. Also, if you want to know about the history of this transport in the place, you can go to visit the rack railway museum, in one of the stops in Ribes de Freser.

We booked at the hotel. The receptionist said, Is she over 65? I showed him the Carrilet Transport Card, Disability, he said: "What is this?" (There is a small discount on FGC tourist trains). It is public and tourist transport at the same time. 34 euros round trip... but you think, it goes through the middle of the forest, above rivers... maintenance...
Ribes Vila leaves near one end of the village, Ribes Enllaç, next to RENFE.
There are benches to sit on, informants, locker, it's punctual, silent... (Ribes Enllaç).
Núria there is a platform that connects to the service block and the Santuari. But for the other, the cable car and hostel, you have to go up and down high steps of construction.
Ribes Vila leaves near one end of the village, Ribes Enllaç, next to RENFE.

We visited this area & rode the train 7 years ago …….so to did it again on our tour was fine .
As part of a tour group our seating was reserved. A very panoramic ride with breathtaking scenery.
We also took the cable car to the top .Again wonderful views .
We were very disappointed at the facilities at the hotel though .There were no restaurants open , just vending machines.
We were told the season hadn’t really started but if the railway is open they must know there will be passengers to cater for .
Do come with suitable clothes too . It was very cold at the top . I wished I had brought a thick hat .

We took the train line from Ribes de Freser to Nuria Valley with a group.
It was a truly pleasant journey with stunning views the whole way up to the Vall de Nuria.
The sun was out when we arrived, but it quickly turned to rain and mist and then snow. We had all 4 seasons in one day in Vall de Nuria! It's a spectacular place that's definitely worth a visit and I think the train is THE way to go.
The station staff were helpful and kind and made our experience so enjoyable.
There isn't much to do at the Ribes de Freser station if you've got a long waiting time and I feel that something can be done about this including adding a café and some benches outside so people can enjoy it more in pleasant weather.
When we got to the top, the cable car wasn't working and being Spain most of us assumed it was 'siesta' time. However, it soon started up. Like many others in our group, I had not realised that the cable car fee was included in the price of the rail ticket. And our group leader had not informed us either. There should be signs in several languages advising of such pertinent bits of info including information boards which were only in Spanish.
For a railway patronised daily by international visitors, I feel that more can be done in multi-lingual signage and information.
Also, advise the cable car when the train is about to arrive to Vall de Nuria so that there is life evident at the cable car and it doesn't look like it's closed.

An exceptional day with this little train going up, up and up and arriving in Nuria!! Right next to the cable car which goes up again, which goes up.... walks in nature, a small lake with pedal boats and boats.... find out the timetables from ribes de freser.... it's at 110 kilometers of roses and 1 hour 45 minutes by car...far from mass tourism.

The employee who controlled the tickets before returning did not believe that I had changed the time in the machines enabled for this, and she argued with me in a bad way. Making me move aside and letting a large part of the people pass in front of me. Until I had to ask him to tell me what I have to do since I'm waiting for him to resolve his doubts. After letting more people pass, he took the time to check it on his phone and let me pass. A shame of treatment, rudeness and lack of respect. When you pay more than 30 euros for a service that ends up ruining a person like that.

Fantastic experience. We took the train from Querables to Nuria. Then the cable car cable car inclhded in the lrice. View is fantastic. Like livinv in a postcard

I did this journey as it was part of the itinerary of a tour I was on. We caught the train from Ribes Enlac to the ski resort of Nuria. It was very scenic as we went up through the mountains looking down on rivers and some narrow paths below us. We spent about two hours at Nuria before catching the train back down. The ticket also includes a ride in a cable car if you want to further up the mountain but I didn't do that journey. The journey from Ribes Enlac took about 40 minutes. Certainly worth doing if you get the opportunity.

Es un medio de transporte y una atracción en sí mismo, por la mecánica de la locomotora y por el valle que atraviesa subiendo al valle de Núria. Vale la pena un paseo

Alarmantemente caro , 31 € por persona. Transporte de ka generalitat FCG. , Para quien estan pensado esos precios , una familia media no se los puede permitir y el resto por principios no los deberian pagar.
