Learn to Cave took my Scout Troop and Explorer Unit of mixed abilities and made caving fun for everyone! Super friendly, enthusiastic and encouraging which are just the skills you need to help you through the tight crevices and climbing up small gaps. Scouts Caver badge: Check!

My boyfriend and I went for a half day caving at Swildon's Hole and it was such an adventure! Neither of us had caved before so weren't too sure what to expect. Marcus was a brilliant guide - really friendly, so much interesting knowledge about the caves and stories of his own caving experiences, and gave us just the right amount of guidance. The caves themselves are amazing - there's such a variety as you make your way through, sometimes crawling on your belly, sometimes shimmying your way down a hole, scrambling, climbing, and enjoying the cool rock formations in a big cavern. We absolutely loved it and will definitely return for more exploring!

We went on a half day of caving at Goatchurch cavern as a group of five friends who are all new to caving but wanted to have a bit of an adventure, and some of us were quite nervous about the experience. Marcus was our instructor for the trip, and he was fantastic! He was very good at reassuring us and building our confidence in the cave while making the experience really fun, and we all had a great time. I would definitely go caving with Marcus again! I would especially recommend him to anyone that's a bit apprehensive about caving but wants to give it a try, he was really good at stepping in to help whenever someone was a bit nervous or needed a bit of extra help with a tricky bit in the cave, or for giving those of us that were more confident and adventurous extra things to do and try out.
We didn't have to bring any equipment, Marcus provided us with wellies and caving suits etc. Goatchurch was also a great cave for a group like ours where people had different levels of comfort/confidence, as there were multiple ways to move from area to area, some easier and some harder.
In summary, a fantastic experience that I'd recommend to anyone that's ever thought about trying caving!

Never tried caving before, didn't know what to expect, but excited to take on the adventure. I found Marcus with a Google search and it was a choice I'm feeling blessed for.
Caving gave me a whole new set of sensations and involves techniques that I was unfamiliar with, but Marcus really made the experience simpler and enjoyable for us. With his pleasant, knowledgeable, calm and trustworthy approach, Marcus really set the bar to our expectations on caving instructors.
If I have one advice for first timers, I recommend to go with people that you fully trust. Even when I was in a narrow path where I was almost stuck, I felt completely safe with Marcus and my close friend. If I ever return to caving again, I'll refuse to go with any other instructors but Marcus, and if I were to have kids, I'd trust my kids with him.
I'm so pleased that I tried caving. It is suitable for the adventurous type, you will get your hands dirty, a few bruises in narrow spaces, and breath some dusty air. But the exciting reward comes as you'll be introduced to the underground side of the same world you live in but never really experienced, you'll get to see the result of thousands years of land formation, and unlock a new milestone in your life.
Marcus said the ideal group size for cavers is 3 but we saw 5 caving groups of bigger sizes than us and everyone looks happy, even the 70 year olds!

Our stag party had fantastic time in Goatchurch cavern. Making our way through the cave was really exciting. Andy was a fun guide, who looked after the whole group, gave us plenty of opportunities to do mini challenges and managed to sneak in some geology facts in the process. Would thoroughly recommend!

Marcus was a brilliantly enthusiastic and reassuring guide on my first caving experience. I always felt safe but also supported in exploring to the limits of what I wanted to do. I had the feeling Marcus was constantly checking how each member of our group was feeling, but never in a way that obscured interrupted my immersion in such a profound experience. Massively recommended and I hope to be back soon once I've had time to process it all. Totally brilliant.

Some sort of mad mix of yoga, interpretive dance and bouldering was called upon to navigate the spaces. A brilliant trip down into the earth- a beautiful, unique, challenging adventure- Marcus was an excellent guide- gently and enthusiastically encouraging throughout and brimming with knowledge. A great thing to do at any time of year as the temperature is fairly constant. We did a 'wet-tour' and got to pass through sump 1 which was an edifying experience! Go do it!!

Marcus is a phenomenal guide. Encouraging when he needs to be, but understanding people's concerns and supporting them. I can't recommend him enough.
Once you really get into it, caving can become a transcendent experience, unlike any other. Climbing waterfalls, wriggling like jelly through spaces that shouldn't fit a human body, gazing at alien rock formations. It's got it all and so much more!

An interesting and fun adventure, we enjoyed our private caving day visiting two local caves here in Wales.
Our guide was very experienced and knowledgeable and we were looked after from start to finish with good instruction and excellent equipment provided.

My friend and I had the BEST time in the caves today, we did the full day of caving with our brilliant guide Lisa after being super well taken of during the booking process by Marcus. Lisa is super knowledgeable, made sure we both felt safe and challenged and was sensitive to what we each felt comfortable with. We come out feeling super proud of ourselves and just having had so much fun. Would highly recommend to anyone. Thank you!
