We stayed in Montagnac, and picked up a brochure for this in our hotel. Although we are probably too old to do, we have never been sensible. It was huge fun although I have to be honest and say we slept very well that night ! It cost two of us £46 to share a canoe. We picked one of the hottest days of the year to make our trip, so we were glad that we packed suntan oil with our picnic. The procedure is that you stop and pay at St Guilhem where somebody will assist you park. You then drive 5Km up the mountain where you leave your car and will be issued with a small plastic milk churn that keeps your stuff dry. You and the churn are then transported 12Km up river where you will be given basic instructions before being launched into the river. It was a really unforgettable day, the river was deliciously cool, the current does most of the work, but you do have to paddle to steer and negotiate the rapids. The scenery is beautiful, and we took about 4 hours to reach the bottom, that's with a picnic lunch and swimming. Just before you hand over your canoe to the experts to get it over the lower weir, there is a bar you can paddle up to. Cold Beer never tasted so good. The only spoiler for us was the amount of people on the river. It would have been lovely to have done it on our own, but I suppose that's selfish. A great day out and highly recommended.

En attendant le début de la fête 1900 de Ganges, nous avons fait la balade en Kayak. Nous ne sommes pas déçu de cette activité inattendue. Loin d'être une petite balade reposante, cette activité nécessite d'être en bonne condition physique mais cela en vaut la peine. Rires et frissons sont au rendez-vous au milieu d'un décor rocheux et verdoyant.
