Il n'a ni le charme, ni la valeur évocatrice de beaucoup de cimetières militaires recueillant les restes de nos libérateurs de 44... Mieux vaut visiter ceux de Reviers, ou de Cambes en plaine, ou de Bazenville...

Cimetiere bien entretenu et modeste. Les anciens combattants y sont malheureusement de moins en moins nombreux.

The cemetery is next to a busy road junction. The car park of the neighbouring civil cemetery is the best place to park. The cemetery is very well kept and was fortunate to arrive just as the sun came out. The sight of the graves of these young men brightly lit against a cloudy sky was very moving. Aside from the British there are some German and a lone Polish grave.

The cemetary at Douvres is beautifully maintained. The visitor book and registry of graves available to all visitors. A little more local information would have been nice on the actions in and around the village which led to it becoming the resting place for so many servicemen.

Comme tous les cimetières du Commonwealth gérés par le CWGC, il est très bien entretenu.

Mitoyen du cimetière communal, cimetière militaire plus modeste que le cimetière américain démesuré de colleville. Tombes des soldats britanniques tués durant la bataille de Normandie, depuis les parachutistes du 6 juin jusqu'aux fantassins artilleurs etc tombés en août avant la retraite allemande. Chaque stele indique le grade et l'age du militaire et reproduit l'insigne de son regiment. Un carré à part rassemble quelques tombes de soldats allemands, avec bien moins d'indications, parfois seulement un nom et la date du décès. Ces tombes quasi anonymes sont presque encore plus émouvantes. Alliés et "ennemis" égaux et reunis dans la mort.

Ce site reste l'un des cimetières britanniques les plus importants de Normandie. Pas de surpriSe, l'émotion est bien palpable mais pas au niveau d'Omaha Beach. Ici l'atmosphère est plus intimiste

Visited my great uncles grave for the first time. Entering the arch there is a small cupboard in the wall that contains a record of all the people buried there and a visitors book. The cemetery is well maintained and very peaceful.

I am travelling to France for a holiday next year and would like to visit my uncle war grave at the La Delivrande. Would someone be able to tell me what times and days the cemetery is open

Hello Tracey. We went there last week and there was no opening time or hours mentioned. It seems accessible 24/7. Just behind it, you have the public cemetary and it said opened From 8am until 8pm or 6pm depending on the season But it's another Entrance Anyway!
