Wonderful Place

I love visiting these gardens. There is so much love and attention put into these plants. The idea of seed saving...especially heirloom seeds...is important. Wander around the gardens, make a donation and pick the veggies :-)

A helpful volunteer was here to answer any questions. There are old types of fruit and veggies along with newer ones as well. If you are interested and have extra time, they are always looking for more volunteers as well.

Really enjoyed walking through this garden and picking exotic and different produce. A very unique experience. The best was discovering Sea Buckthorn berries. A miracle fruit used in Chinese medicine. Hope it helps my arthritis.
Will definitely go back.

Really neat place

We stopped by to see what this place was all about. We came away with lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, some of which were new to us. The garden cultivates and grows rare, endangered, heirloom and world food plants. They only ask for a donation in exchange and that you weigh whatever you take with you.

It's a self-serve garden but we happened to get some assistance from a very helpful lady that volunteers there. She was able to point out some of the things that were still available as well as explaining what the more exotic vegetables were and offering some suggestions such as garlic chive and lady slipper.

We will definitely stop there again maybe a little earlier in the summer to see what is in-season.

The BBFG is one of my favorite places to visit. I love to stroll around the gardens. I always learn something new. Best of all I usually come home with something freshly picked to enjoy! I highly recommend.

This wonderful project is into it's 2nd year of development and well worth a visit. Only wish more of these gardens were available across the country and perhaps this will encourage similar gardens elsewhere.
