Worth looking out for, the very interesting Truro Cathedral Boer War Memorial is very easy to find as it is on the south west wall near the entrance. Unveiled on 7 March 1905 by the Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall, the Memorial contains 192 names of Cornishmen and men of the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry who died during the South African War, which was fought from October 1899 to May 1902. Most of the Memorial is made of wood but, on either side, are imposing half life-size figures of soldiers in the stance of mourning (with arms reversed). One of the figures (on the left) is in service dress and helmet, while the other is wearing a bush hat and a bandolier.
