The ever changing range of excellent cask and keg beers makes this a must. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and will give a taste if you're doubtful. The regular customers are worthwhile chatting to, albeit they are mostly curmudgeonly bearded men The lassies are charming.

Excellent micropub in Chesterfield with knowledgeable staff. This is not a place you go to for attractive décor, it's bare-bones as far as that is concerned. The focus lies entirely on the healthy selection of craft cask & kegged beers, with nothing to distract the punters. There are two small rooms, each on one floor. If you're unsure about which beer to pick, the owner will let you sample them. Miles above all the more stylish but mediocre pubs in town. Highly recommended.

Superb choice of keg, craft, cans and bottles all expertly kept

I visited this excellent micropub during the weekend of the Barriw Hill beer festival. A good selection of cask and keg ales, including a very tasty (and strong!) cherry stout. Friendly locals added to the atmosphere of a very welcoming pub. The pub is a short walk from the market place. Well recommended if you're in the area and fancy a pint or two of real ale.

All I can say is the beer is brilliant and it is an absolute gem. Extremely friendly place. I could dongs many afternoons here. Love it.

There is a choice of about a dozen real ales and the selection changes weekly.

What a truly wonderful drinking establishment. The choice of ales was too die for. This is what pubs should be like, welcoming, friendly and full of open conversation. The fact that it is dog friendly is a massive plus. We have visited from Lincoln but will be back. A great pub to visit.

Small pub based in what was previously just a shop, very much a beer drinkers pub. Some excellent beers which are very well kept from different breweries, need more places like this

What a great place. I only had time for a pint but the alehouse is a great addition to the Chesterfield drinking scene. I knew where I was heading but almost walked past it as it's housed in a former shop in a traditional terrace and as there was very little light emanating from inside and half the main window is frosted, you could easily think it was closed.
However, I'm pleased to say it wasn't and once your inside, your search is rewarded by a great selection of cask and keg beers. Traditional table seating is in the front area and the bar is at the back, up a small flight of stairs. There's also an upstairs room which I'm not sure was there when I visited in May 2017 unless I completely missed it during my fleeting visit.
Friendly staff and above all, great beer at great prices. A really super place that you need to visit if you like quality beers and one I'll certainly return to the next time I'm in town and next time, I'll aim to stay for longer.
