I had visited this spot many years ago and only returned recently to take an overseas visitor. We stood in awe over the vast amount of blooms; I had forgotten how lovely this garden is. We had lunch and returned for a second stroll through the gardens. £6 is reasonable for the amount of work that must go into the upkeep of the plants but for just a further £6 you can have repeat visits which is good value. It is a peaceful spot to be. The cafe is fantastic, the portions are large and not over priced. We didn't try any cake, as tempting as they were, but they equally looked generous and flavourful. I now have this as a spot to sit for a coffee while my son does tuiton nearby and the coffee is very good. They were close to closing time on my last visit but I was still made welcome and told I could chill out in their outdoor area even after they'd locked up. I especially like the family run element and I enjoyed visiting with 3 generations in my short break: who were genuinely lovely. It is easy to find using Google maps.
This is a great spot, it's a pity the rhododendrons don't flower all year round as the gardens and cafe are closing for the season 10/7/22. Will see you in 2023.

The cafe is lovely ,it has a beautiful rustic charm . The wooden tables outside are lovely . The food is reasonably priced and lovely sandwiches, cakes and salad with a balsamic glaze dressing . They catered for Gluten free for a Toastie and cake .
We went around the gardens but £6 is too pricey I feel .

As Dr Johnson said of the Giant's Causeway, 'Worth seeing, but not worth going to see.' It took us ages to find the gardens, as road signage was virtually non-existent! Our sat nav took us along several narrow, winding country lanes (beautiful scenery), we then got lost, finally stumbling upon the venue quite by chance. The rhododendrons are certainly spectacular, but we did not feel worth the entrance charge of £6 - with no concessions for pensioners of students. The free parking was simply on a muddy grass verge on the approach lane. We fared better in the cafe, which served us excellent tea and coffee to wash down a generous slice of tasty Victoria sponge cake. The savoury dishes looked good, too. Sadly, we wouldn't rush to return!

This garden is amazing when the rhododendron’s are in bloom informal and a real pleasure.
The cafe mustn’t be missed but be prepared to wait when busy, but the food is worth the wait.

Lovely place for a lunch/coffee followed by a pleasant walk, through the beautiful gardens of rhododendrons. Set on what used to be a quarry (though you wouldn't have guessed) it looks into a valley full of wildlife. All the delicious food dishes and cakes are freshly made and non pretentious, as well as great value for money. Free parking is available but it canget busy around lunchtime.

This is a really pretty garden to enjoy in late Spring as it is crammed full of rhododendrons and camelias, with a few pretty acers and other plantings too. We visited on a very sunny day, so the meandering paths in the shade we a delight.
The paths are very uneven though, and some may find this challenging,
The cost was £6. We paid cash on entry, but you can by tickets from the cafe if you prefer to use a card or contactless.
We visited the cafe on the way out - it was super popular and busy, but the staff were working flat out to process the orders. There's clearly a good team in place!
Cake was lovely too!
Toilet facilities were also excellent - wooden cabins with proper facilities. Parking is limited - we parked in the car park at the bottom as the road is very narrow and parking quite limited.

Firstly if you are at Cromford seen the sign for Lea Gardens don't take the path go back get your car and drive up.
Getting to the site it can be a very tight turn coming off the main road , so just be aware if your in a large 4x4 or Van, as you might have to back onto the main road if your not prepared.
This leads to a narrow lane there will be cars parked in the road sides of the lane .
On your right is a small field this is the parking for the site.
Entering the area there are no gates etc is a wide open accessible area, you'll find the cafe to your left you need to go in here to pay entry.
Once you've paid you go thru the entrance to the right via the rope entry.
The gardens are beautiful they follow multiple winding gravel pathways taking you thru a variety of stunning views with quirky features.
On these paths are small slates with a no entry or arrow painted upon them to guide you in the right direction.
My advice would be take your time stop at each new part and take it in, there are plenty of benches which are very well placed to make the most of the setting.
It is like being in another country or on a film set its totally amazing .
The gardens I can't find fault with it's perfection.
The cafe however is a different matter altogether, the Gentleman who runs it looks like if he smiled it might kill him, imagine being in that stunning environment and you still can't be happy.
The young chap is wonderfully friendly and helpful nothing is too much trouble.
One young lady looked at me I was inconveniencing her with my presence, we ordered a two pots of tea and some cake.
The teapot was half full I had to go back and request a top up of water whike asking for milk and sugar which wasn't provided.
She slammed two sugar sachets down, two for a shared tea pot.
The cake was not light and was dry we both left most of our cake.
My advice would be see the stunning gardens but give the cafe a very wide berth

Went here today, our first time in many years. It cost £6 per adult admission and this entitles you to walk round these beautiful gardens. They are on a hillside and there are lots of steep paths, some gritted, some bark and others steps. It is not a place for a person having difficulty walking or in a wheelchair.
The gardens are at their beautiful best at this time with rhododendron, azaleas, camellia all in flower. They make a stunning spectacle from the cafe.
The cafe served good coffee and scones.
Although quite busy the service in the cafe was speedy, the staff were friendly and helpful.
There is a small car park in a field just near by but it was very wet after recent rain and a sign advised to use only if you had 4wheel drive. Like most people we parked on the side of the road.
Even though it was quite busy it felt safe with arrows marking the direction etc.
A lovely visit and delight to see such beautiful blooms.

Been twice this Spring. Enjoyed the goats cheese melt at the cafe and seeing the bushes in flower. A hidden highlight of the Derbyshire dales
