Quiet and off the main road. Didn't explore but the garden looked pleasant. Car park spot is not on the main road but still outside the owners property. Nice accommodating owner & good breakfast. Basic accommodation in a large room. Could get more than 1 TV channel & internet didn't work. Great shower

We had booked a two day tuition carriage driving and stayed in the owner's B&B family room accommodation on site
Carriage driving was great , incredibly knowledgeable tuition and a very patient Mikey the pony(sadly Caroline is retiring from teaching at the end of the year but is continuing with carriage rides)-she then took us out with her team for a carriage ride around the lanes and through the parks to see the amazing scenery of the Derbyshire Dales.
B&B room was good (we were two but it sleeps 5), it has disabled facilities in bathroom and no step access . Comfortable beds , tea/coffee making in room.
Breakfast was in the house and lots of choice-cereal, home grown fruits and honey ,yogurts, cooked etc
Lots to recommend and a very friendly host and staff in a beautiful part of the world.
She also has licenced caravan parking

Booked a half hour carriage ride for my mothers 70th birthday.
£90 for four adults and one child.
Excellent communications from owner, great ride on the day even though the weather was foul. We were provided with waterproof blankets, which helped a great deal. Nice warm welcome on arrival.
Would cheerfully return, as all enjoyed the experience. Very pleased.
Worth noting that the museum previously here is now closed. Carriage rides very much operating though!

We visited this museum in January 2018 but it was permanently closed on 31st December 2017. You can still get a carriage ride at £35.00 each. The two women in the shed (where you could get tickets) we a bit rude.
They need to advertise the museum is closed as we didn't see the small sign on the door and got a very unpleasant chat, saying we should have read the sign on the door.

Called in to have a look around the museum went to pay office with money in hand and was totally ignored by woman in office talking on the telephone for at least eight to ten minutes and by young girl working at a table in the office

We had read that this was a good place to visit with lots going on, but on the day of our visit it was very quiet and staff not that helpful. Nothing going on!

The bed was comfortable and there was everything that was needed but the room was dated and the bathroom sliding door made a lot of noise and took a lot of effort to pull, not good if you need to get up in the middle of the night.
The breakfast was fantastic and could not be faulted for choice and quality.
Views of the garden were lovely as well.

We stopped in at the Museum early in the morning as they were just opening. There were quite a few carriages and other carriage related items. It was interesting. They had 2 carriages there that were used for the BBC Pride and Prejudice. We walked past the stables as well on our way out. They had carriage rides but we didn't go on one.

I am outraged by the whole experience at Red House B&B.
We booked it via the Activity Superstore as one of their 'unique places to stay'.
When we arrived it was not at all clear as to why this would be listed as a unique place to stay as the accommodation is a house, lived in by the host, who is the rudest and most unaccomodating owner I have ever met.
We were shown our room - an outhouse in her garden- which was freezing cold and according to their website had a 'scenic view'. This was utterly incorrect as the one and only window to the shed was a single glazed, frosted glass window facing the side of her house with a view of her veranda.
We have a 10 week old baby and asked for an extra heater immediately on arrival to which she said 'I'm not being funny but it's not cold in here'. Dressed in several layers of clothing she went a got us an oil filled radiator and a room thermometer from her house. Which said it was 11 degrees. (See photo).
She argued with me that it wasn't cold in the room and that I needed to give it time to heat up. We arrived at 4pm on Tuesday 29th November. This night was one of the coldest on record according the the news.
We had the use of two oil filled radiators - one of which kept turning itself off. See photos.
There was a towel rail in the bathroom - which is not a substitute for a radiator as it's purpose is to heat towels not to heat rooms. the storage heater on the wall was barely lukewarm.
There was a glass vent in the window which was open fully on our arrival. See photos. The door to the shed was not an external door therefore offered no draught exclusion and the draught from it was the main concern as there was also no separation from the door to where we were expected to sleep. See photos.
At 4 30pm I called the Activity Superstore office and spoke with a member of staff who proceeded to mediate between the owner and I. He then asked me to take photos and wait a while to see if the temperature improved as the owner was insisting that it was warm enough and that she had done all she was going to do to assist us.
At 5pm the room temperature had improved by 1 degree to 12 degrees. See photos.
I called the office again and spoke with Kerry who proceeded to mediate with the owner again. We advised that we would not be staying in this accommodation as it was unsuitable with a baby. She spoke to the owner who refused to offer us a refund claiming that she had turned away custom for the family room which I find difficult to beleive on a tuesday, during term time.
Activity Superstore also refused to compensated us.
I find this completely unacceptable. If we were to visit a Holiday Inn or Travel lodge we would firstly be able to control the temperature in the room and secondly our concerns would be taken seriously - not personally - and dealt with promptly and effectively.
I feel that the activity superstore should take ultimate responsibility for this mess as I am not convinced that anyone has vetted the place and would be very curious to know what is unique about it let alone the lack of standards in comfort and hygiene (bathroom was not clean and there were cobwebs everywhere, decor is also 20th century)
Activity Superstore charged us £115 for the privilege yet the room only cost £80 according to their website. We were advised that we had to forfeit the voucher due to the inconvenience to the owner (the irony). I Beg you to consider if you yourselves would stay is such unwelcoming accommodation with a 10 week old baby on the coldest night of the year.

Dear Stacey,
I am genuinely very sorry that you weren’t happy with the room, and I do agree that it was indeed the coldest night of the season so far. However, we are only a Bed & Breakfast establishment and visitors are usually out and about all day in the Peak District and only return to sleep in the room and for this purpose the room was adequately heated in my opinion. There were extra blankets and duvets available, which I pointed out, if they were required in the night.
In my experience, a baby is quite happy in a warm cosy bed in a well ventilated room with a gentle heat rather than a really hot room, and I am sorry that you felt I was unhelpful, but again I must stress that we are NOT a hotel with 24 hour reception service.
You mention the price you paid for the voucher from Activity Superstore, but we do not get anything like that when we redeem the vouchers – in fact it is less than half. You mention the décor, which may not have been to your taste, but this is a personal thing and as we are a working Museum with horse and carriage driving activities taking place every day we do tend to have most visitors from an outdoor and active lifestyle that appreciate the homeliness of the room.
I really would like you all to come back in the summer, when you could see everything in warm sunshine rather than dark freezing conditions, and am happy to offer you a night’s accommodation free of charge. Perhaps when you baby is toddling you would appreciate the space and surroundings all waiting to be explored.
