We took the Italian escapade in April of this year. I expected traveling with Insight to have a more first class experience. After this experience, we would not take another bus tour.
Pros
Very well organized. Tour Director, Lisa and Driver, Massimo were both excellent. very knowledgeable and proficient in their respective jobs.
Sights were beautiful. So much crammed into a 12 day trip. Lots of extras from other tours were included in this one.
Cons
Some of the hotels were outside of the city center. Nothing to do within walking distance. A couple of the hotels were pretty crummy. Two mornings were supposed to be relaxed start and we did not experience that at all. Every day except one was before 9am. On travel days, lunch was always at rest stops along the highway. Food in general was not that great. Under seasoned or poor choices. Tour was promoted as a moderate activity level, but a couple of days were over 5 miles of walking. That was a lot.

Recently did a Country Roads of Ireland tour. Commenced in Dublin ending in Belfast. The tour was delayed by 3years as Insight would not refund money. Very disappointed in the travel director Ann who could not care less about a fellow traveller that broke her foot on the Aran Islands her and the other guests left all day in the pouring rain. The Irish people we did meet were very welcoming and although the bus tour was tiring ireland itself is just beautiful. The insight tour company does not include very little, some accommodation was not four star and amenities were not provided. The dinners that were included were of poor standard no better than cafeteria food.Everything is extra paying for all the experiences then asking for gratuities for the bus driver, and herself and asking guests to tip your guides if they were provided. Other tour companies include everything in the price paid for trip. Would never use this tour company again

This review is for insight tour Ireland. Wouldn't let me find that tour here. One traveler had a hacking cough and got most of the bus sick. My mom was first, then husband then I got it the last day and had to take sick days off work. Why insight allows obviously sick people on the tour bus is beyond me. It ruined our once in a lifetime trip. Most people were coughing as the trip progressed. Started w sore throat then cough. The original sick individual chose to go on every optional excursion further exposing us all. Horrible. Tours should be kicking people off and also giving instructions on limiting exposure to the entire group. When someone in coughing up a lung uncontrollably, not fair.

We had an amazing adventure starting in Dublin and winding our tour around all of The Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. The tour company was Insight Tours. The tour was the Best of Ireland/Scotland (tattoo 2019) county roads tour.
Our tour director was Robbie Joyce. He was incredible - vast experience, expertise and great wit. We travelled as three couples but met many other friends on the tour. There were Aussies, Canucks, Kiwis and Americans on the tour - all of us had a blast!
There is a lot to do and see. The accommodations were good and their locations are excellent only a few hiccups but nothing significant to mention. The food is average but you really should t be going for the food. The people and the countries are abundant in culture, fun and beauty!
I could talk all day about the travels. Our host Robbie laud everything out and made our visit to every venue memorable- the tour was interjected with many other add ons - Every one of them came with a guest tour guide who was exceptional in their own rights. They were so genuine and gracious. I am happy to answer questions and would highly recommend. You will be busy and tired everyday. So the odd bit of whiskey and beer were welcome! The shows were wonderful. We saw many!
We never saw the Loch Ness Monster but were mesmerized by the tales.
Robbie was exceptional but we found our driver Paul to be the most amazing coach driver. He hit all the marks perfectly and was a true gentleman.
Our guest hosts
Ronan (Derry), Sir Ludo Shaw-Stewart (Ardgowan Castle), Bill (Edinburgh), Steve (Loch Ness) were all exceptional, funny and worth the time.
Truly a great experience. Made special by Robbie, Paul and Insight.
Memorable and fun

My 12 day Country Roads tour with Insight Vacations was incredible. The tour guide Erica was extremely knowledgable with the history of both countries and made it very interesting as well as a lot of humour. The tour went without a hitch due to Erica's organisational skills and with the great navigational skills of our Coach Captain Pat who negotiated the winding small roads with ease and always with a happy face. I would recommend any one to travel with this company and I hope to again in the near future.

I went on the Irish Elegance 9 day tour in May 2018. While there were some good experiences, I would not recommend this tour. I would have preferred a more upscale experience with better hotels, better food, less time on the bus, and a different tour guide. The following is my feedback:
On the positive side:
-We got to see many highlights of Ireland including Cashel, Blarney, Killarney, Ring of Kerry, Connemara, the Cliffs of Moher, Galway, and Ashford Castle. My favorites included the Cliffs of Moher and Killarney. The Ashford Castle was amazing and the property was beautiful.
-The bus tour allowed us to get around Ireland, and this was convenient as we didn't want to drive.
-Ireland is a beautiful country.
-The tour was well organized.
On the negative side:
-The tour guide Patrick could have been more informative. He did multiple readings, and these were long, uninteresting, and loud. He talked about himself, and often went into long monologues.
-With the exception of the Ashford Castle, the hotels were mediocre. The Clayton Cardiff hotel didn't have air conditioning and was below average. The tour spends 3 nights at this hotel.
-The meals included were poor, with the exception of dinner at the Ashford Castle and at the Clayton Cardiff hotel. Dinner at the Connemara Coast and the Killarney Plaza hotel was inedible.
-There were several optional add ons which were good, but I thought these were overpriced and should have been included in the tour.
-For The Ring of Kerry, we spent 6 hours on the bus, with an optional brief walking tour. This was not an enjoyable excursion.

My husband and I were lucky enough to take a week-long Insight Tour through Ireland (Focus on Ireland) this past June. The tour company was Wonderful and Ireland was just So Beautiful. We were so well taken care of; the hotels were first rate, the food was plentiful and delicious, and the itinerary really covered the republic of Ireland in such a way that we really felt that we had gotten a good sampling of the Beautiful land and its history and people.
Every day brought a new adventure and special treat. On one night, we had dinner in a medieval castle and were treated like lords and ladies. On one day we were taken to a pub where we could order a pint of whatever we liked while listening to a Delightful Irish storyteller talk about growing up in his little village. On one night we had a Lovely dinner followed by a Lord of the Dance type revue. On one day, we roamed the Gorgeous grounds of the Blarney Castle (which of course we climbed to kiss the famous stone). On one day, we were taken in “jaunting cars” (horse and buggies) for a ride through the Most Gorgeous enchanted forest. On one evening, we had a cooking demonstration and then a homey dinner at a chef’s house. We also traveled to the Cobh Museum in Cork where so many people started their immigration from Ireland to Ellis Island in New York. This was especially interesting to us to see the beginning of this very difficult journey, having been to the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and the Tenement Museum in New York a couple of years ago. On one day, we traveled through the Irish National Stud farm with it’s Incredible Japanese gardens.
All the way through, we had the Most Fabulous guide, Erica Dalton, who consistently regaled us with her lilting voice with the stories, history, humor, and folklore of the area. Paddie the driver got us from place to place with his always smiling, helpful, easy manner, in a very comfortable bus with all the amenities. We were often greeted throughout the week by bus treats: a Guinness stout tea bread here, an assortment of chocolates there.
On one of the last nights of our tour, my husband realized that he had left his suit (that he needed for our son’s wedding the weekend after the tour) at the previous hotel (a couple of hours away). Our tour guide Erica could not have been more helpful. Completely unruffled, she calmly arranged for the suit to be transferred to our current hotel before the evening was over.
I cannot rave enough about Insight Tours in general, and Erica Dalton and the Focus on Ireland tour specifically!!

This was a 14-day tour (although flight to pick up tour in Dublin is counted but your own extra expense so misleading) of the above. True to what Insight is known for, smaller group so buses have lots of room. We had a great guide by the name of Sean McEwen and amazing driver, Gerry G (last name spelling won't come to me). Driver's skills were next to miraculous and he was professional and always had a great big smile to greet us. Our guide was a master to detail, knowledge of all the corners of these 3 countries, and a genious to get us into special places avoiding lineups maximing our touring time.
It was my first trip across the pond and I went with my mom (options for 'type' of trip are too simplified btw). We had a great time and I will be back to see these beautiful countries. The history, architecture and people will take your breathe away and my only complaint is I wished we had more time! I think I will be back with my hubby 😊

Through our travel agent, Altair Travel & Cruises, here in St. Louis, MO, they had arranged a group tour of Ireland in conjunction with a local talk-show radio personality, McGraw Millhaven, and were joined with about 40 other tourists. Altair Travel arranged the tour with Insight Tours. Insight Tours' formal tour name was "Irish Elegance". We traveled from St. Louis to Charlotte, NC and after a layover, traveled non-stop to Dublin, where the tour began. We checked IN at the Clayton Hotel. It was nice and clean, but NO A/C!! We met our tour guide, Aine (spelling? pronounced like 'Anya') who was absolutely great! After we were settled, we hopped back on the bus and toured the Guinness Brewery. Very good tour! After that, we toured the Trinity College. The next day, we departed for Killarney with intermediate stops at the Rock of Cashel, then onto Blarney Castle. We waited in line about 1 1/2 hours to reach the top of the castle, where we 'kissed the Blarney Stone'! We then traveled to the Killarney Plaza Hotel & Spa, which was a very nice hotel. We took the "Jaunting Car Ride" (horse & carriage) through a vast park (optional tour experience). While in Killarney, we also saw the "Celtic Steps" (optional experience) show at the Killarney Racecourse. They were awesome!! We also went on the "Ring of Kerry Experience". We traveled the winding roads around the Iveragh Peninsula. After 2-days in Killarney, we traveled to "The Cliffs of Moher" and spent some time there. Breathtaking scenery as long as the FOG stays away. After that, we continued on to Galway, which required a ferry to cross the Shannon Estuary. We toured the Galway Cathedral, which was beautiful! My wife and I did two-(2) optional experiences, both of which we recommend: 1) The Corrib River & Lake Cruise; and 2) The Medieval History Tour & Whiskey Trail, followed with a Pub Supper. The Medieval History Tour was fantastic! Our tour guide was a geological professor at the local university. Very knowledgeable and funny! Next, we toured the Kylemore Abbey. Beautiful setting with a lot of history. The last night before returning to Dublin, was the awesome Ashford Castle! I can hardly find the words to describe this castle, but it was MY HIGHLIGHT of the entire trip! The service was spectacular! And if you ever go, you MUST do the Falconry Experience at the Ireland's School of Falconry at the Ashford Castle! We handled two-(2) of their predator HAWKS! Unbelievable experience. It's no wonder why this castle is rated among the top 10 hotels in the WORLD!!! We returned to the Clayton Hotel in Dublin for the last night. I highly recommend this "Irish Elegance" bus tour. If you've never been to Ireland, you must take a tour. Going "solo" will miss out on tons of history. SPECIAL NOTE: The scenery throughout the tour was breathtaking! Overall, it was a great tour. I have only two-(2) issues: it took over 17-hours to get there and a little longer to return to St. Louis. This can't be helped. However, the other issue was we were only allowed 1-suitcase per person for an 8-day trip. We had to pack, unpack, pack, etc. at every stop.

We were on a tour of Ireland and Insight tours were highly recommended! We were very disappointed with our tour guide Patrick. He was not knowledgeable about Ireland. He made sure we knew all about him growing up which I wasn't interested in. He also felt we wanted to hear long readings that he read to us on the bus. When we would see him at dinner or in the hotel he didn't even know who we were. The best part of the week tour was the large space between the seats on the bus. When booking a tour again I would definitely not consider Insight Tours!

I received my travel documents from my travel agent. I would go on-line direct to Insught & find out when they are going to send them. Greg
