Nice view - great pathways

Great walk along the seaside, nice colours, loveley view and well maintained paths/walkways.

Time ran out and we wolked the more direct route back from the "summit" above the lighthouse.

If you need to see a toilet before staring your roundtrip - do that in Howth before you go, the public toilet at the "trailhead parking" was something else and not for the faint of heart :-D

Beautiful scenery

We walked around the full peninsula and were stuck by the beautiful scenery. Also the colourful vegetation was impressive.
It took us 3,5 hours without stop. Lunch afterwards at mamo was surperb.

On the negative; The tracks were very muddy at some sections, - so bring good footware. Also, the track was overgrown many places, - sometimes with unpleasant plants with thorns and stinging nettles.

Well worth the quick and easy trip from Dublin on the DART. With an active fishing port, a playground for children, numerous shops and restaurants, there is something for everyone in this beautiful village. The hike up to Howth Head can be somewhat challenging depending on one's fitness level, but the views are breathtaking.

Refreshing and relaxing

A beautiful place for a day trip to get away from the hustle and bustle of Dublin. The views are amazing, the whole vibe of the place was exactly what we needed. It's postcard pretty, well maintained great options for drinking and dining. The walks are stunning, relaxing and very beautiful. I adore this place. Great little market with some ace art and great fish & chips too. Could do with more public toilets

Come on Howth - clean your public toilets

Howth Head is a lovely walk but do not spoil it by visiting the pulic toilets at the pier. I couldn't believe that such a facility exists in Ireland in 2023. Reminded me of the old days when all public toilets were like this.
None of the taps at the sinks were working so no hand washing available.
Smell was disgusting.
This was very early am so no excuse.
My wife used the Female side and they were the same.
Does anyone in authority read this?
Shameful.

One of the nicest Trail in Ireland if you can take over 15 km

If you go uphill from the harbour, you enjoy good views, but these are only the cliffs nothing else. don’t stop hiking on the first half of the island. The second part which begins after the Lighthouse is most scenic. The views over there are much more fantastic . Then return to the harbour crossing the island through the golf club. This is one of the nicest Trail in Ireland..

This is a lovely walk in the countryside with a stunning view of the ocean and cliffs. This walk is about 7km long and very beautiful! It is not exhausting at all.

A Pleasant Walk

I used to live in Sutton and grew up there, so decided to go back and do what is now called the Fingal Way, The cliff walk from Sutton to Howth. Not easy to get to. If you drive, you will habe a long walk to get back to your car. The best way and this will add to the distance you will walk. Take the train to Sutton station or the busbto Sutton Cross. Make sure you have decent footware and bring water, as while it is a very pleasant walk, it is a long day out. Walk up the Greenfieldbroad heading for the Summit, passing St Fintans Church and Santa Sabina School on your left. Then turn right on to Strand Road and enjoy the coastal walk. This will take about 20 mins or so. You will come to the entrance on the right. You will see the Martello Tower in the distance. The walk starts off easy and level, but as you approach Red Rock, the track starts to rise and there are a set of uneven steps to bring you over the bottom of this small mountain. It will bring you to the stony beach of Red Rock. Save to swim in, but there can be a current so be careful. Continue along the coast, the track is much easier here, but can be narrow. If you meet people coming the other way, one of you will have to give way.
You will be treated to some stunning views and coast line. The better the weather on the day, the better the views. There are lots of small coves along here, and a large drop from the top of the cliff. So nothing stupid, keep your safety in mind at all times. It can be a bit of a slog if you are really unfit, but just take your time.
The further you travel along, the path does get easier. But bear in mind, you are travelling uphill, so there will be a bit of climbing. You will see the Bailey Lighthouse, and once you pass it, Howth Summit is just beyond.
You can stop off here, where you can use the toilets, or visit the Summit Inn or a small store if you want refreshments. Then back to the track for the decent to Howth. The track is much better on the Howth side, not as rugged as the Sutton side. Also, you will meet a lot more people. Continue on a gradual decent. You will see Lambay Island in the distance. But I think the most spectacular view is when you round one of the points and Irelands Eye looms up in front of you. Photos do not do it justice.
Then you will see Howth village in the distance. Continue your decent, and eventually come to a small car park. Then follow the road down to Howth village.
There are various watering holes you can visit for a well deserved drink or some food.
You can then take the Dart or bus home.
The actual cliff walk is approx 10 kms.
Well worth it, but better if the weather is sunny, not raining. Bring a light jacket, while it can be pleasant on one side, it can be windy and chilly on the otherside, depending on which way the wind is blowing.
