What an experience! Our group of 8 enjoyed sampling, tasting, and mostly learning about the wines of Langedoc Roussion. Learning how to identify aspects of each of the 8 wines we tasted, then pairing with the perfect complementary food, and tasting the wine again was mind blowing for all of us. We have a new appreciation for this region, their wines, and especially Emma’s knowledge and candor.

The “Cooking and Quaffing’ event I had the pleasure of being at was the most fantastic experience. The whole day was brilliant. Emma had created a great itinerary for the whole day and we cooked 10 dishes with instructions, advice and great camaraderie. I was with a group of ladies and we all enjoyed the whole experience and we learnt quite a bit too!. The skill and tips Emma imparted were excellent and the effort that went into preparing the event, choosing ingredients that were top notch, and wine and setting out our work stations could only have been a mammoth task, yet she presented the day with grace and aplomb. I had the best day ever and I learnt such a lot that I shan’t ever drink wine without food again. Emma has an easy way of delivering information and sharing recipes that belies her skill. She was an absolute pleasure. I thoroughly recommend any event Emma delivers - you will learn so much whilst having a great time.

We had a group wine tasting and cooking together at Emma's beautiful house in the lovely countryside of Languedoc-Roussillon. It was a fabulous day - educational but in a relaxed way. The food was seasonal, from the region and exceptional tasty. Emma is one of the most admirable person’s I have ever met. She has such a joyful and energetic approach to cooking and wine tasting and is definitely an inspiration.

Whether you are seriously interested in wine or have just a casual interest you will enjoy a wine and tapas tasting at La Maison du Rire. If you are visiting the Corbieres (it is also worth travelling from further afield too). Emma delivers the tasting with her professional knowledge, interesting tips, facts and humour. The food the wine is paired with is superb, She uses locally sourced ingredients for her accompanying dishes. Her talent for finding and presenting good wines allows her to create such lovely dishes some of which have no recipe (Emma has written two cookery books). We left her beautiful house feeling like with had dined with old friends and had learnt a lot along the way but also happy that we had booked another event with her in a month’s time. Go you will enjoy!

A group of us had a few hours with Emma Kershaw, learning about wine and food pairing. Well!!! I have been to similar things before and they were ok, but this one was fantastic! We learned so much and had a lot of laughs (see what I did there?) and the time flew by!
The knowledge that Emma has is second to none, but she also has a great way to give you information that stays with you and makes it fun and she really is a lovely and kind person herself.
I highly recommend you try one of her tastings and also buy her books.

Emma Kershaw does it again! We’ve enjoyed a wine and food tasting with Emma before. We enjoyed another one recently. We learn so much each time about wines and wine-makers of Languedoc Roussillon. Emma prepared about 12 little dishes to accompany the 8 wines that she had selected. Her mission is to show how the wines and fresh foods of the region can sing together. She fulfills her mission in spades! After more than 3 hours of great humor and passion and stellar food and wine, we knew that we’d enjoyed a three-star gourmet event, as good as some of the best restaurants that we’ve had the good fortune to experience.

We recently attended one of Emma’s special events: a vertical tasing of the Argentinian wine Clos de los Siete followed an asado (BBQ). Emma, warmly and with her expert knowledge, explained the history of the wine and about the area in which the grapes are grown. She gave us guidance on how to taste wine before leading us through sampling 10 vintages from 2018 to 2003, detailing the different weather conditions experienced in each year and encouraging us to consider differences in taste and colour. We then had a real feast of grilled meats and salad accompanied by glasses of our favourite vintages. The immersive experience transported us to Argentina in the middle of the pandemic without leaving the Corbières. We left with a greater appreciation of how wines develop and how they pair with food. We thoroughly recommend La Maison du Rire to learn more about wine in a lively and welcoming environment.

I have enjoyed two food and wine tastings now, one at the school HQ and one at a wine domain... Both equally AMAZING! Great tips on how to taste, choose and pair wines with food. Fascinating stories about the wines and their producers and the most delicious food. Can't wait until the next one...

I just attended my second wine and tapas pairing with Emma Kershaw at Maison du Rire. I cannot say enough about how educational, fun, entertaining, and delicious this experience is. Emma is a wonderful teacher and host. The wines she choses to go with each amazing dish she prepares are just perfect. This event was a special tasting of wines with foods that are spicy (not just hot spices, exotic spices from around the world). Emma chose wines from the Languedoc region and there is a lot to choose from. It is a very relaxing atmospher and the setting is beautiful. Whether you are a beginner wine taster or an expert, you will certainly enjoy this experience. I can't wait to go to another one.

Emma is hugely knowledgeable about wine and passionate about the region. A really informative and excellent value experience discovering some new and delicious wines and how to pair them with food. We took guests who are interested in wine but would happily go back again with local friends and discover some more. Very entertaining. Worth the hike out into the Corbieres and easy to twin with a visit to Lagrasse or other local highlight.
