One does not expect to find such a beautiful garden on the windswept Wet Coast of Ireland but this one is well worth a visit, especially if you also have a garden of your own. You will not only get some wonderful ideas but you will be able to purchase some excellent specimens of many of the plants you have seen. Well worth a short detour from the Wild Atlantic Way to see it.

I was so disappointed to have driven especially from Kinvara while on holiday to view this most beautifl and natural facility. A sign at the gate siad, closed and private property. The owner was a total Gentleman and it was the only place where one could see what one were really buying and how the plants would look. A master piece and class act.
I have read the owners response to one contributor and sincerely hope he is making a full recovery.(Please God). The very Best of Luck.

We loved going to this garden center. The owner was extremely friendly and knowledgable and generous with his time. There was a great variety of plants. We loved the flower on the fuschia procumbens. Matt, the owner, took the time to walk around with us and share his expertise. This was a great first visit--we will be back!

As I was getting married in Doolin, I thought it would be a nice touch to get a local person to do the bridal party bouquets so I contacted Mathew at the Doolin Nursery. We had a quick sit down at the nursery a few months beforehand when I was down visiting the hotel to go over what I would like. I wanted a rustic and simple look. We didn't meet up again until the morning of the wedding when the bouquets where getting picked up. They were lovely, just what I wanted. I got five bouqets for my bridesmaids and my own, as well as two large bouquets for our mothers. Everyone told us that they loved the flowers. The price was very reasonable. I would recommend anyone getting married in Doolin to give Mathew a call.

No summer in Co Clare is complete without a visit to Matthew O'Connell's garden and nursery. We were there on a rainy, windy Saturday but it didn't disappoint. The garden is looking better than ever. Matthew, in rain slicker, pointing out plants by their latin names and explaining how he makes compost, was a treasure. Stunning stone and iron sculptures abound.

We visited Friday 22 July with our teenage children. It is an half acre garden mostly given over to flowering plants and shrubs, some of them rare and beautiful. My wife and I are not very knowledgeable about these things, but we know a nice flower when we see one. Matt O'Connell came to speak to us and was very friendly. There are numerous cuttings and plants to buy, but we would have no room to take any back. We spent a pleasant 30 minutes here. If you are in Doolin and like flowering plants, pay a visit.

This was disappointing. Really just a small nursery. Not recommended. It only took us 10 minutes to walk around. And, no one welcomed us.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review of my Garden & Nursery. I am dismayed to hear that your visit was disappointing. Please excuse my not being there to welcome you, I run my Garden & Nursery on my own Tuesday - Sunday (I close on Mondays) and as you can appreciate am away from the garden for 10 minutes here and there for bathroom breaks. I am passionate about gardening and enjoy welcoming garden enthusiasts from all around the world to my garden. By strange coincidence, around the time of your visit I had the pleasure of hosting a group of 38 avid Gardeners from Virginia, lovely people, perhaps some of whom may have been your neighbours! Should you ever return to this part of the world again it would be my pleasure to welcome you and show you around my garden. I hope you enjoyed the rest of your stay in Ireland.

We brought our art and biology students to visit the garden center to draw and paint
the beautiful plants and flowers there. We were welcomed even though we just stopped by. We have come here several years and are always welcomed and enjoy
the beauty of the gardens. It's a friendly place to visit.
