South Australian memorable experience with a fantastic team

A pleasant day on the Port River checking out the dolphins, historical landmarks and enjoying a great lunch. Ideal for groups and special events. The staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Great to see a well managed experience.

Very pleasant lunchtime cruise

Group of ten went on a very enjoyable 1.5 hour cruise. Saw some dolphins which always provides some excitement. Commentary was very informative but did not intrude on the peaceful cruise. Well worth the modest cost of twelve dollars per person. Nice Covid safe processes.

No social distancing

Popped on board to fill a couple of hours as it was really cheap ($12 per adult) and enjoyed most of the cruise. Only saw one dolphin close up right at the start and a small pod playing about 100m from the boat on the return journey but it was a lovely day. Saw plenty of pelicans, which was nice. Very windy but refreshing.

Main issue was when we were disembarking. People crammed together like sardines riding to get off. No social distancing despite the signs and no staff assisting or monitoring the mass of people.

$9 for 1 year old when it's $12 for an adult is taking the Mick, especially when you try and blame it on covid-19 restrictions.
More of a tour of the industrial port than dolphins.
Commentary poor and pointless as almost impossible to hear and understand.

Bad food experience

Today (8/08/2020) we went for a trip to see dolphins and had a lunch. The boat went to the mouth o f the river with very few visible dolphins on the way. Food was bad. Not prepared at the galley (as advertised) but defrosted from some external supplier. None of us could finish it off! The crew tried they best. They were friendly and helpful. Congratulations. But the food spoiled the whole experience. I can understand that no one can guarantee seeing wild animals but, perhaps extending the trip by say half an hour or so could increase the chances of seeing the dolphins? Knowing that the company should definitely put more effort in improving the quality of food. Because this they can control completely. This would definitely improve the overall impresion of the trip. As it is now however; I will recommend avoiding this cruise until the quality of the food is drastically improved.

This is the best value for money cruise. You get to see dolphins. And if yo want you can have a feed or a beer.

Dolphin cruiser, an AMAZING experience but could be better

I went to the dolphin explorer for a relaxing day. It was amazing we saw lots of dolphins. The food was overpriced and the fish was not fresh. Still I saw a dolphin up close! Really nice. I recommend it but pack your own food. Chips were $4 for a small bucket, $8 for a medium bucket.

Great tour

This was great fun but we only seen one dolphin as we got on the boat which was disappointing but it can happen. The tour was nice though and the staff really friendly and welcoming. I had looked at a few dolphin tours and for our friends plus us was over $500 and the ride was 1 hour on small boats and then found dolphin explorer and it’s a bigger boat and goes for 90 minutes and was ONLY $63 for all of us! You can get food and drinks on the boat and overall was just amazing :)

Relaxing lunchtime cruise

When researching Adelaide sightseeing had,had issues with finding more about a cruise. However on visiting Port Adelaide easily got a ticket. Available as cruise only or with prepaid lunch, which I had. Friendly and informative staff. Satisfying lunch meal. It was a 2 hr cruise of the port. Saw only 1 dolphin from my position, there were others but that wasn't why I went. Quite relaxing.

Dolphin Cruise could be so much better.

The opereaors have good equipment and facilities but fall short on customer service. The boat is quite spacious with plenty of windows but the floors were grubbby and the glass not clean. There was not a big number of passengers so the facilities were not strained. Lunch was available, and we took that option, but the choices were quite limited, the sort of stuff you might expect from a fish & chip shop, delivered in a cardboard box. This is just not good enough, it is well known that the cheapest part of a bought meal is the food, so why not include something in the way of presentation to make the food visually appealing, it wouldn't matter if it did cost a bit more. It was clear that more than 50% of the passengers were from overseas, and not native Englisg speakers, so Fish & Chip shop food is not appropriate, nor is a running commentary from the bridge in only English delivered over a worn-out public address system. In the main restaurant area, there were a lot of Chinese peolple and South Asians who were making a lot of noise of their own because they could not understand the commentary: why not say a bit less and do it in English, Mandarin and Hindi? And why not at least one offering of Chuinese and Indian food? There was a small shop inside which looked very shabby and with a very limited renge of offerings, all heavily sugary. The problem with toilets like those I found is that nobody respects them, so they too were grubby. All in all, this represented a litany of missed opportunities to create a memorable experience, the basics are there, but no polish.
