Een samenraapsel van oude huisjes, wel allemaal mooi gerestaureerd. We kwamen hier langs midden september. Jammer dat alle huisjes gesloten waren en we dus alleen maar wat konden rondwandelen. Gelukkig hoefden we geen inkom te betalen.

Really enjoyed our visit to the village, even though it was a rainy day. The village is interesting, but the staff make it great. They are friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable, and clearly enjoy their work. Our favorites were the blacksmith, pottery and printing shops.
And the restaurant was great - the food was delicious (especially the ginger cake with lemon sauce), and the staff were great - good service, and wonderful sense of humor - made our visit.
So grateful that when we checked in, we were able to borrow umbrellas for our tour - made such a difference, and meant we were able to stay longer and really enjoy our visit.

Great place to visit. There was so much to see but we ran out of time as needed to get back on the road. You really do travel back in time on your visit as you walk around the picturesque well preserved village. The costumed interpreters are so knowledgeable. We spent ages learning about the photography on glass, fascinating. We've told our Nova Scotia family that they need to visit for a great day out, can't believe they haven't visited it.
Practicalities, restrooms around the site, also water stations. Restaurant on site selling sandwiches and chowder.

What a treasure! This museum village features a variety of homes and buildings where staff are on hand in period costume to answer questions. The artifacts are very interesting and it is impressive that so many of them have continued to exist, from a leather satchel from the pony express to a huge array of pharmaceutical bottles with original contents to amazing furniture in original houses. The secret to a great visit in a place like this is to stop and ask questions of the knowledgeable animators. They have such pride in the village and they know endless stories of the history and items. Can’t remember the last time I enjoyed a historic site so much. My huge compliments to all involved in this site. Your passion for it is amazing.

Wish we had more time as there was more to explore. Very interesting little "town" with many old period buildings. Staff were located in most of them and were very helpful and they added to the experience.

Such a great place to walk around and explore. As you walk around you will come across many people in period dress eager to chat and give you a piece of the history. My visit was during Covid restrictions so some of the displays were not fully accessible but still a wonderful visit.

Such a neat place to walk around to explore. They even lent us (for free) a super cozy stroller for our toddler. We loved the giant goat and rabbit. While we were there, there was a street market happening and we could come & go as we pleased. Admission was free this summer and it was great interacting with all the employees who were dressed and playing a role. I'd go back for sure! Loved the employees at admissions: super nice!

It is well worth the drive to visit Sherbrooke Village and spend a few hours to a full day with family and friends! With over 34 business and community buildings to visit and view. Many walked about and building, very friendly costumed interpreters to talk about the late 1800 of the prosperous boom town, by timber for tall ships, gold mining, blacksmith, post office, printers, jailer, drug store, Dr. office, photo studio, farm animals and so many more. Don't miss the real rare origin working sawmill, powered by a beautiful outdoor wooden water wheel. We also enjoy a fresh garden salad, followed by lunch of fish and corn chowder with home made tea biscuits in the tea room. They had a good selection of homemade baked goods.
Also, we learn they host many events throughout the season for everyone, like Sherbrooke Village Old Fashioned Christmas. So take time, to step back into time, of the biggest village museum in NS. It was a fun and great day visiting Sherbrooke Village!!!

Staff and just how big this place is are what makes it.
Was a Saturday market on when we were there and that really made for a fun day of market + exploring the village.
Ask the blacksmith about his Penny Farthing bike
Ask the post office about the Spanish Flu and masks in the 1918 era.
Ask the photographer about her glass plate photography (she's only 1 of 2 people in the WORLD still doing it the old fashioned way and you can pay for pics from her)
Ask the drug store chemist about her soothing balms she makes the old fashioned way.
Ask the weaver about her 4 carriage loom and the the fabrics she makes the old fashioned way and sells in the gift store.

We visited the Village on September 7.
Normally you can wander around and explore but in this Time of COVID it’s guided tours only. You also only have limited access to the buildings.
On the upside, once you see those little bits and peak through the windows you know you have to go back.
The buildings are very well maintained and the site still has one permanent resident. The guides are very knowledgeable and welcome questions.
It’s still worth visiting even with the restrictions and I am really glad we took the time to do it this summer.
