We had such a fun time at this museum. It isnt the biggest, so won't take a lot of time, but if you have kids, you'll want to stop here on your tour of the Burin peninsula. I haven't found anything else like it in Newfoundland. They have a ton of interactive elements to their exhibits, including a life sized Velociraptor model which my kids loved. There's lots to touch and enjoy - highly recommend!

The geology centre was much smaller than expected however the guided tour which is included in your price of admission was very informative. We were hoping to go to the ecological reserve but it had just rained and without hiking shoes we were told it was too slippery to go out. It was a good quick stop if you’re looking for something to do in the area.

Went to the center on Saturday June 15 at 9 AM and it was closed. No hours listed on the building. Drove to the Ecological Reserve for a walk and returned at 1030. The geology center was still not open. No information on their web-page (not updated since 2018) or on FB. Locals say it is open haphazardly.

This is a tiny place, but we paid for the tour (which inlcudes transportation and a guided walk on the ecological reserve), and it was incredible. The guide clearly knew more about rocks than anyone we've ever met before, but he made it easy to understand and appreciate. The exhibit is great (and interactive for the kids), but wouldn't be as good without the guided tour.
The real benefit is the guided trip out to the ecological reserve, which is amazing (he walked us down an unmarked path to the rocks, and showed us fossils that you could have never picked out).

The people here were very friendly. Small museum and a good place to get information before going to the ecological reserve. You get a good sense of the timeline of the geology of the rocks.

this is a must see while visiting Fortune. located across from the ferry teriminal. Amazing to see rocks and fossils that are so old. Beautiful rocks and gifts for sale as well and the staff are awesome. Big smiles greet you as enter and they can help guide you on your journey ! A must see in Fortune !

Vey informative guide who also gave us directions to the geological site outside of the village. They have recently upgraded it so there are some new features. Highly recommend that you have the guided tour as otherwise it will only take you 5 minutes to go through it and you won't get the benefit of the stories behind the exhibits.

THis is the last thing we visited before leaving. AS we arrived late in the afternoon, we were given a free pass for the next day. I was surprise as to the amount of information is there on the different rocks dating over 1,000years ago, as well as information and picture of the Titanic and finally information on off shore drilling in Newfoundland territorial waters

Do the tour to see the fossils! We had guide to ourself and got to see lots of fossils. Guide had our teenage boys very engaged!
