Lovely parkland with plenty to see, good value for money and has lovely ice cream. It took us around 3 hours to walk around the site with the highlight being the grotto. There are a few information booklets telling the history of this site. Would definitely visit again.

The parkland is beautiful, excellent paths with great views of the follies. The reception/shop was well staffed (polite and courteous) and offered us a map. Signage could definitely be better then you wouldn't need to give everyone a map. Facilities though are rather poor, the cafe didn't have much in the way of food, but what they did have was reasonably priced. The toilet facilities though are severely lacking, only one set (male, female & disabled) by the shop/cafe. There were 4 portaloos by the 5 arch bridge but no disabled or accessible toilets. Also I wonder if their gardeners are short because all the paths had overhanging trees at about 5'8", I'm 6'2" and had to duck a lot to walk on the paths

I have known of Painshill for many years but its location makes it difficult to get to as I don't have a car but a friend offered to drive us from nearby Weybridge station. We got there early afternoon and had a sandwich in the cafe which was decent quality and fairly priced. I would have preferred soup but I thought at over £7 it was pricey. The volunteer at the welcome desk gave us a map which was most useful and we set off on the 2.5 mile red route to take in as many of the follies as possible. The signage around the site could be better in places but we managed ok. The weather was sunny and the views were spectacular. The information provided at the main sites was useful. There were a number of highlights but for me the hermitage and grotto was most interesting plus the vegetable garden at the entrance shouldn't be missed. We had a leisurely walk around which took us a good 2.5 to 3 hours. We booked the entrance tickets online so saved a little but the £10 we paid was a reasonable amount for the attraction.

Painshill is always a pleasant place to visit but since our last visit the cafe has deteriorated a little. Firstly, the space is very cluttered with quite a lot of signs and odd bits of furniture (chairs rather worn). Secondly, the food offer is disappointing, especially for vegetarians (worse still for vegans). Lots of choice gor omnivores including sausage and bacon baps and sausage rolls, but for vegetarians, egg and cress sandwiches. All the sandwiches were pretty basic, but not cheap..
The park now has the tagline 'Where the walk is a work of art' which is true but on the day of our visit the lakeside was peppered with anglers and their tents which detracted from Hamilton's vision.

Nice, walking tracks in very relaxing surroundings with a river, lake and sometimes an active water wheel built to transport water.
1700’s Folly’s can be visited along the walk and are interesting.
There is a cafeteria and toilet facilities.
The A3 motorway is nearby which produces some automobile noise.
The circular walk provides nice views and takes several hours.
In summary, a very nice place to walk and enjoy the English countryside and nature surroundings. Local people walk here often and able to take a dog on a leash. I personally would go there again, for relaxation and exercise.

The gardens are extremely beautiful. There is very little by way of facilities though. We arrived at 1.30 with two kids and thought we would have lunch before we started our walk. There was virtually nothing to eat - chips and chicken nuggets was all that was on offer and the quality of the food was very poor.

Visited with family. Stunning sceneries and great landscapes. Went there because of the Crystal grotto. However found put that it has so much more to offer than the crystal grotto.
Great place to spend a day out. Very beautiful ponds and bridges as well as historic buildings and ruins. Great place for nature lovers. There was a Dragan trail for Easter season which kids enjoyed a lot. Crystal grotto is a man made cave but it looks natural. Suggest to book tickets online because it's cheaper. We booked online near the entrance. Car park is free. Great for pets too.
Worth the ticket price which was 10£ per adult and 5£ per child.

We booked the Mother's Day afternoon tea experience on 19/03, and were completely shocked with what the event turned out to be. This is the email we sent customer services- we are yet to get any response:
For £120, we were expecting a beautiful, classy venue (even perhaps over looking the lake!) with good quality food. A real surprise and treat for our mum who deserved a special day. As Painshill is so beautiful, we couldn’t believe what the event actually turned out to be.
Starting with the venue, which was in a tiny back room with no windows. It felt like we were in a conference room with cheap furniture and chairs- see picture attached. We could have been in a village or school hall, not Painshill Park.
The food- for £120 you would expect lovely sandwiches- smoked salmon, beef etc. instead, we had 1x egg, 1x cucumber and 1x ham & cheese. Again, very cheap in comparison to what we paid for.
The experience- we were the last to be served, which was fine, however whilst we were still eating, the servers were packing up the other chairs and tables around us. We felt rushed and uncomfortable, and could just hear the banging and crashing of packing up. We were in and out in an hour.
We wanted to push the boat out for something really special and what we were presented with was a real shock and not acceptable by anyone's standards.

Normally we visit Painshill regularly, but this was our first visit for a couple of years. It was good to park in the much improved car park, plenty of spaces and no potholes! We arrived at about 1.30, so enjoyed lunch in the cafe, sandwiches and delicious cakes, 10% reduction for members. There were some hot options available. On a sunny Friday early in February, it was very busy, so we sat outside. Afterwards we had an enjoyable walk around part of the lake, plenty of birds to see, plus snowdrops, cyclamen, early crocus and daffodils. We ended with a browse in the gift shop, again 10% reduction for members. Be aware that the whole place, including the car park, shuts at 4 pm at present, so you need to allow for this. For those who have not visited, this is a beautiful landscaped garden with a number of interesting follies, the most unusual being the Turkish Tent. Highly recommended.

Have been here so many times thought it was about time I wrote a review. During covid it was a lifeline for me and my family. A great place to spread out and enjoy nature. We bring our grandchildren and friends children to enjoy the trails which are always good fun. We especially enjoyed the fairy doors. The cafe doesn't have a view but the food, especially cakes and biscuits are good.

Hi, free parking, but look on the website for admission offers. Enjoy. Sorry its late on this reply.

Why the director is replying to any complaints with a standard reply as I would expect a personal reply to my problems after they have taken £42 off me to see illuminations that were not worth 1/3 of the money I paid. Carol Wilson

Hi, how long does can it take? So as to be able to see the cave and walk around Painshill.

Dear Visitor,
The Crystal Grotto is predominantly open on the weekends (in Winter hours this would be between 12:30-14:30). If you came on a weekend and visited all of our follies including the grotto you would want to give yourself 1.5 - 2 hours to enjoy the park.
Kind regards,

Is Painshill Park wheelchair accessible? Thanks
ShaunH290

It is possible to enjoy Painshill Park in a wheelchair. Not all of the landscape is wheelchair accessible but you can certainly see a good part of the park from good surfaces. You can even hire a wheelchair free of charge on a first come, first served basis. There is an Accessibility page on the website under Plan your Visit under Visit Us. If you can visit, do: it is well worth it!
Hi, is the grotto open Monday to Friday? Is it open tomorrow monday (14 may 2018)? Can we buy the tickets there on the spot rather than online? Thanks

Traveling by train to Painshill, is it less expensive to buy train tickets ahead of time or is the price the same the day of travel?

You don't need a taxi from Conham station to Painshill Park! It is only two miles away and buses run along the Stoke road and sometimes from the station.
How much is the entry fee please??
Hilary D

The tickets are £7-70 for adults, £6-60 for concessions, £4-20 for children aged 4-16 years, and a family ticket for 2 adults and up to 4 children is £25..If like ourselves you are members of the National Art Fund there is a 25% discount.
