Truly fascinating visit!

On our recent visit to Jerez we were fascinated to visit the Palace. We took the tour in English and were delighted to find that our guide was actually the Marquis himself; brother to the 9th Count! As it was just the two of us this made the experience really personal and insightful. It was so incredibly interesting, that we would recommend a visit to any who are keen to learn more about a Spanish aristocratic family with such an interesting background! We hope to return at some point and stay in the beautiful accommodation available.

Palast Erlebnis pur…Historischer Ort mit dementsprechendem Zimmer. Matrimonio Bett ist etwas schmal und hoch aber stilecht. Netter Empfang alles gut organisiert. Parkieren in Parkhaus problemlos. Da lässt sich auch ein Sherry geniessen.

En una breve visita a Jerez hace unos días, pasamos frente a este palacio y vimos que había un cartel anunciando visitas guiadas y que también tenía alojamiento y nos pareció muy interesante. Frente a la puerta -que estaba abierta- había unas personas con maletas. Se me ocurrió entrar a preguntar y alguien que resultó ser el Sr. Marqués se me acercó con un tono arrogante y acusador diciendo "Acaba usted de entrar en mi casa". Desconcertada, pedí disculpas y le dije que buscaba una recepción o algo así o alguien que pudiera informarme sobre las visitas guiadas. De nuevo me espetó "Sí, pero está usted en mi casa". De nuevo le pedí disculpas sin entender que él no entendiese que la puerta estaba abierta y que yo hubiera entrado, por tanto. Con malos modos me dijo que estaban cerrados y que la visita en castellano era a las 17:30. Me marché de allí francamente indignada por haber sido tratada como una intrusa o ladrona cuando la situación era tal como la describo aquí. Obviamente, no volví. El Sr. Marqués disipó todo interés en nuestra visita a su palacio. Sobran lugares maravillosos en esa ciudad donde a la gente se la trata con educación y un poco más de inteligencia, incluso. Espero que el Sr. Marqués haya tenido un mal día y no sea esa su actitud habitual con las visitas a "su casa".

Sorprenden algunas opiniones negativas. Las normas de la visita ya te dicen que no se puede hacer fotos en el interior pero sí en el jardín.
La visita dura alrededor de 45 minutos y está bien explicada por el guía que es el hijo pequeño de la familia.

La casa es impresionante y tiene gran cantidad de cuadros, relojes, muebles de época, etc.

Los jardines están algo descuidados pero por el conjunto de la casa merece totalmente la pena la visita.

La verdad es que en cuanto a cuadros y otros objetos de diferentes épocas es sorprendente, pero creo que las estancias y algunos objetos estaban muy deteriorados y me daba la intuición de que no invertían demasiado en su conservación y mantenimiento (zona de la piscina bastante lamentable y eso que tienen un hotel que los huéspedes pueden utilizar. No se es, una sensación mía

Hier wird man vom Grafen persönlich durch den Palacio geführt!

Durch Zufall sind wir an dem Herrenhaus vorbei gelaufen und haben gesehen, dass hier Führungen stattfinden. Umso erstaunter waren wir, als uns der Conde höchstpersönlich seinen Palast zeigte. Es war eine höchst interessante Tour mit sehr viel persönlicher Geschichte und Einblicke in das private Leben des Hausherren. Die Adelsfamilie steht in enger Verbindung mit dem spanischen Königshaus und dies sieht man auch auf den privaten Fotos, die überall in den Räumen stehen. Das Haus ist mit Antiquitäten und außergewöhnlichen Gemälden bestückt, man kommt aus dem Staunen nicht heraus.
Ein weiteres interresantes Detail und Highlight, für das der Hausherr allerding keine Werbung macht, ist die Tatsache, dass in diesem Anwesen Teile der Amazon Prime Serie "La Templanza" , engl. Titel "The Vineyard" gedreht wurde. In der Serie ist der Palacio das Anwesen der Familie Montalvo. Wenn man also in Jerez ist, sollte man es nicht verpassen diesen Palast zu besichtigen, es lohnt sich!!!

A beautiful historic hotel

We chose Palacio del Virrey Laserna based on its location, proximity to old town and positive reviews in TripAdvisor.
The hotel was less than a 5-minute walk to old town and sherry house González-Byass in the other direction. We were greeted warmly by Alvaro the younger brother of Asis. Both of whom were over-the-top helpful before and during our visit. We were given great advice on the Feria, restaurants and things to do during our visit. Unfortunately, many of the restaurants, tabancos and flamenco bars were closed or had very limited hours during our stay, largely due to the festival and holiday. Alvaro made a prior appointment for us for the "Sherry Fusion" tour and even drove us there and parked our car so we were not late for our appointment as we arrived minutes before it was about to start. Our room was very nice with a glimpse of a bygone era that overlooked the peaceful inner courtyard. The pool was a nice treat to relax after our long walks around town. One observation however, although not a problem for us but could be problematic, was the limited hours where there was a representative actually on site, although we were given a number to call in an emergency. The Feria itself, which was about a 15-minute taxi ride was exceptionally beautiful at night. If your travels should include Jerez de la Frontera, we would recommend a stay at Palacio del Virrey Laserna.

Al visitar este palacio te explican una parte de la historia de España. Puedes visitar los diversos salones en los cuales hay piezas muy interesantes. El jardín y la escalera está un poco descuidado; necesita un buen mantenimiento
