A Stunning church deep in the Devon countryside. The church is on a high point overseeing the valley bellow (apparently the highest church in the south of England). It has a beautiful view over the surrounding area.
Inside the pleasant quintessential chapel it was dark with the majority of the light flowing through the stain glass figure of St Michel above the alter.
My kids aged 11 & 8 loved walking two miles to the chapel and found the view of the church and the hill enjoyable. They both entered the chapel and were interested but not too much more for them (would be 5 star without them).
Well worth the time we spend getting there, and the chapel is well worth a look. When we’re back in the area we defiantly will go there again.

A few miles from Tavistock and a handy car park with toilets at the bottom. Just beware of the fast road that runs in front of the church. The walk up the hill is quite easy and there are splendid views and a very nicely maintained church at the top. It is quite an expensive place to keep running, so they have provided a contactless donation terminal by the door. Please leave a donation if you make it up here ☺

Despite living here nearly 8 years this is the first time we have walked up to the church. Amazing view and lovely church.

Well worth taking time to visit.
The church on the hill can be seen for miles around. Well sign-posted parking at the bottom of the hill with public loos.
It took us about 10 minutes to walk up, sturdy shoes are recommended. It was quite blustery and a little drizzly however we still had great views and it was very atmospheric.

If you are driving between Tavistock and Oakhampton, you really can't miss Bren Tor - it's the rock with a church on top. There's a handy car park with toilets at the bottom to the west, and the walk up is easy follow, and not particularly hard.
The little church of St Michael is wonderful, and the views!! Quote stunning, reaching for miles around. It's just possible to make out Plymouth Sound to the south if you squint, and on a fine day.
Take a picnic. There's a bench at the top, but lots of places to sit and enjoy.

If you are up for a very steep climb this is well worth a visit. You have to go out of your way to get here but it is worth the visit to this non touristy church and view. Small active church (there were the remnants of recent wedding flowers visible). Stunning view - bathrooms in the car park.

We stopped here for a photo opportunity and a leg stretch, turned out to be one of the memorable highlights of our road trip. The church is still a working church and its location is truly breath-taking. Whilst we had good weather, as we climbed the mount to get to the church it became overcast and it just added another dimension to the feel for the place and created a wonderful ambience. I would 100% recommend you give yourself 30 minutes at least if passing to have a look.
This place has a large car park, with public toilets, whilst nothing special they are functional. I would say it’s a steady 10-minute walk to the church from the car park and sensible shoes are a must, there is no direct footpath so the ground will be wet underfoot and uneven in places.
Dog friendly as long as they are kept on a lead.

Photogenic church with photogenic views from Brentor. Short steep walk up from the car park, definitely worth a quick stop on a day out on Dartmoor.

This is a beautiful church and the views from the tor are terrific, however I think this place has an otherworldly feel. Sometimes feel it is not fully in the light, but make up your own mind.
