We have seen the church from the window of our train from Flam to Myrdal. Information about this church was on the information screen inside the car. The church was built on the basement of another older church 500 y ago.

Very unique and unusual. Paintings on walls from the 1600s. Very sweet and look in the grave yard to notice the generations do family’s buried there.
Nice walk up the valley. Not strenuous.

Il faut faire une marche de quelques kilomètres mais avons été » enchanté par cette visite. Il y a des foyers qui expliquent quand et comment elle a été construite.

I took a run and passed this church. It looked like there were gravestones in the yard and people were wandering about. It looks very old.

The Church is in old Flam which you can get to following the railway line. It’s a pleasant walk about three miles from the cruise port

Wreszcie, przy którejś już z kolei wizycie we Flam miałam czas, by wybrać się na tę wędrówkę. Około 3,5 km w jedną stronę, wzdłuż torów kolejowych Flamsbany i górskiej rzeki o wartkim nurcie stanowiło piękny spacer. Sam drewniany kościółek urzeka swoim skromnym pięknem. Był otwarty i oświetlony wewnątrz, zapraszał do wejścia. A wnętrze skłaniało do refleksji i modlitwy. Polecam każdemu, kto będzie w tej okolicy.

Lovely walk through Flam and then came to this church. It is a nice pretty church and well worth having a look as you go through the tourist town.

På vej væk fra Flåm, kørte vi en tur op i landsbyen for at se den fine lille kirke. Vi havde set den fra oven, da vi kørte med Flåmbana.
Kirken var ikke åben, så vi måtte nøjes med at nyde den udefra.

We would like to know if the church is open on Tuesday 28th August?
Also if the walk is easy for us older people, and how long is the walk.

Hello,
It is around 4.0-4.5 Km one way from the Flam tourist office. So, going and coming back will be around 9.0 Km. The walk is easy and it is rather flat surface. So, it depends on your physical fitness and you are the better judge for that and I won't be able to answer this.
The Church was open, when I visited it on 29th August, 2017, exactly an year ago. I was told that it is open during summers, but there was some timing and please ensure that you find out from the tourist office.
