Are there any places in the park to park and set up a tent in the park? We’ve done this before in other areas of Norway. We want to hike Besseggen but have read bad things about the campground near the ferry.

Several reviewers describe the Besseggen ridge walk as grueling and terrifying. Reviewer "solo m" wrote: 'I probably would have hiked back down the way we came up and taken the boat back to the car." I would consider doing that. To “solo m” and anyone else: Where did your hike start and at what point (how many hours in) would you recommend turning back? Or better yet, what can I do in Jotunheimen that doesn't involve the risk of falling off a cliff?

Hi! I want to plan a road trip/ wild camping trip through Norway with a couple of friends. I got Jotunheimen recommended bij a friend, and it looks beautiful so we want to go there. My question is, what are the wild camping rules in and around the park? And as we are going by car, is it possible to park or drop the car by the side of the road and go further by foot to set up camp? And if one of you guys knows some good places to set up camp, it would be really appreciated if you could tell me where those are :). We are planning on visiting the end of july. Thanks in advance!

Can anyone recommend an itinerary for us? Our plan is to drive from Bergen to Stranda (roughly between Alesund and Geirangerfjord). However, we want to do some day hiking in either (or both) Justenheimer Park or Jostedalsbreen National Park. We'll spend 3 or 4 days in the parks. Should we visit one of the parks on the way to Stranda and drive through the other one on the way back to Bergen? Also, can anyone recommend a good driving map?

Buses from Oslo to Jotunheimen National Park in May? I was told of an express bus from Oslo to the park - can anyone let me know if this is possible? I am landing in Oslo around 1pm and inititally thought of taking a train from Oslo to Otta and a bus from there though it would be much easier if I could take a direct bus. Thanks Coralie

Se ho capito bene ci sono più sentieri percorribili, a me piacerebbe spendere più giorni camminando di rifugio in rifugio e se non sbaglio questo parco dovrebbe fare al caso mio. Hi, I am wanting to hike the full "Jotunheim traverse" over 3 days next summer. I have found a blog of a route which starts at Gjendesheim and finishes at Turtagro. Is anyone able to advise me on how you would get back to Gjendesheim to pick up your car though after you finish, ie does anyone know if you can travel between the villages by bus at all? Or alternatively if there is a better way to do it such as getting a bus from Oslo and not driving etc? Thanks for your help, Nathan
