Great family visit, lots to see and lots to explore on a sunny day. Loved seeing the woodland and playing in the natural play area

The collections within the house were very interesting and also the royal connection. The gardens were very nice with some lovely walks. There were deckchairs on the lawns if you fancied a sit in the sun. We particularly enjoyed the bird hide.

This is a fascinating house, and the guides are very knowledgeable and keen to share its story and the that of the many people of note who have passed its portals. Despite the fact that it has been owned by the Trust for 80 years, the stories still feel fresh and the house has the feeling that they might return at any moment. The outside of the house is looking in need of a refreshing of the yellow rendering, and we were glad to see that plans are being made to do that.
In the garden we noticed that many of the useful plant labels have been moved and wrongly attribute the plants. This could be because weeding was done when the plants were dormant but it needs sorting, as inexperenced gardeners will be misled and others will be annoyed, or annoy your gardeners by telling them so!
We found that the offer in the cafe was much better than visits to NT properties last year. We enjoyed both coffee and cakes, and later lunch in there too.

We recently visit this property and from arriving to leaving, we had an excellent time. We could all the staff very friendly and helpful. We also went into the house and was surprised that we were able to view the majority of rooms and we were allowed to spend as much time in each room. We are going back in June to see the gardens in full bloom. I would highly recommend any one not visited this property to give it a visit you will not be disappointed.

I made this a stopover on a longer journey and was surprised by the variety this property has to offer. The house is packed with artefacts that any museum would be proud of. As so often in these National Trust properties, the volunteer staff are on hand and more than willing to share their knowledge, although this time I came right at opening time, so some of them were still busy getting ready.
It was raining on the day, so I did not visit the gardens, that will have to wait for next time.

What a disappointment. I wouldn't recommend anyone to eat at the courtyard cafe. and I say that as a National Trust member of long standing. The cafe was once a delightful place to go. No longer. I took one bite of my sausage roll and left the rest. Horrible.

Like most NT sites this is Polesden Lacey is kept well.
The grounds are stunning and extensive, so plenty of scope for more visits.
the house is worth a look, though it looks as though there should be more to see.
the post marked route we walked was easy to follow.
As it was a bank holiday, it was busy. When we were leaving early afternoon the queue to get in was back to the main road. The Cafe and tea rooms were also extremely busy

We visited Polesden today for a New Years day walk,
I think the whole of the local area had the same idea as the car parks was heaving but with it being so big once your where in it didn't feel crowded at all.
I love Polesden it is just so beautiful the grounds and the house.
We had a walk down to the new play area, we were with my four year and one year old grandsons, they both loved it and the 4 year old was off climbing and exploring as soon as we got there. It is built with a lot of logs and branches and looks so rustic. Looks of interactive play and a big and little slide. My only ask of the Polesden is to put two more baby swings in, this is always popular for the little ones that can't walk and there was a que for turns today.
We visited the house as my youngest grandson loves Christmas tress and the house is full of them, it looked absolutely stunning in there as the lighting is low and the tress just twinkled. I have never noticed just how beautiful the house is inside to, really enjoyed the wonder round.
On route there was a 12 days of christmas trail for the children (and adults to do) including a special pair of magic glasses. Polesden are so good at putting on trails, they always come up with great ideas.
We stopped for lunch at the cafe, again busy but we found seating inside, there was plenty of choice and the service was friendly and fast.
What a smashing way to start the year.
Polesden is a great place to visit winter or summer and if you have a dog they are welcome to. Highly recommend a visit.

Visited Polesden Lacey yesterday and were very impressed with way the house has been decorated for Christmas, all themed round the 12 days of Christmas. Christmas trees of different shapes and sizes in most of the rooms, very realistic 'snow' in the courtyard and an impressive tableau on the billiard table. The staff had really gone out of their way to create an impact and with the sunny weather and nice areas to walk it made a very pleasant and enjoyable day out.

Our first visit to Polesden Lacey for Ignite. What a brilliant night with very polite staff from the car parks to the ticket check in and the grounds. There was no rush and you could walk at your own pace in front of all the displays, pathways were wide enough for people to pass or wheelchairs/strollers. Only complaint would be lack of choice for the food kiosks. This year 2022 there was no fairy light archway which was a shame

Hi, we'll have Christmas choirs Fri 13 & Sat 14 Dec, 4-6pm. You can buy tickets for the horse and carriage rides on the day if there are no tickets available online, however there may be a queue. Many thanks.

Yes, there are lots of places in the grounds to picnic. They’re extensive with formal gardens and a much wider area for walking and leisure, there’s even a children’s play area.
Opening times
Hi, Polesden Lacey is open 10am - 5pm. The house is open from 11am and last entry is an hour before closing.

I have been informed that the National Trust has granted a licence to the Surrey Union Hunt to use National Trust land at Polesden Lacey for trail hunting. Please can you advise whether there is any truth in this?

Probably an hour to view the house. Lovely gardens to walk around at your leisure and various walks so with regards to this aspect, you can take as long as you like. There are picnic tables and plenty of areas for a picnic blanket to take your lunch and of course the coffee shop and gift shops to browse.

Not sure about a pre-booked afternoon tea. I would check their website/telephone for more information. There are benches around the estate where you can rest and seats in the cafe/restaurant inside and out.
